LCD NES ZAPPER

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

yep, im bringing back to life this thread but i found something real cool. a micro color crt. it was used in an extremely expensive, rare, and treasured vintage portable tv. this with the "light pen" idea would rock. the address is http://cgi.ebay.ca/PANASONIC-CT101-CT-1 ... dZViewItem
you gotta love google
so if your rich and MUST have a duckhunt portable this is the perfect option!

That's amazing, but TOO BIG for a portable. It's too bad there is no hack for the light gun that would allow it to send the right signal…

sure it has a little depth but it would fit in some portables great. is it possible to add red, green, and blue filters to the light gun so only white light could =get through and black light would be stopped?

Would the lightgun even work on such a small display? Maybe if you messed with the lightgun lense you could get it working... it ain't worth $500 though!

It seems I was mis-informed, you can't use a NES Zapper on a LCD. The question is why? The device is a simple photo diode with circuit to trigger a NES button.

For some reason the lightbulb trick listed in many NES FAQs doesn't work either.

I guess it serves me right for trusting third-party data.

has anyone even tried hooking a NES up and testing to see if the zapper works on an LCD? If i had a zapper, i would hae done this myself allready...

I have the original zapper circuit, but no controller cord. Can someone give me the pinouts to i can rewire mine (if i can find it).

The portable TV on e-bay... my upstairs neighbor's dad told me back when he was my age (im 24, so this has to be back in the mid to late 70's) he hooked his Atari 2600 up to a portable TV (which he described, and sounds just like the one on e-bay) and mounted the thing to his motorcycle on his handlebars. When he would go on road trips, if he got stuck in traffic, he would start playing kaboom. His only problem was the game used the paddle, and the screen was so small, you think that u just need to turn the paddle a little bit to move across the full screen. You actually have to turn the paddle just as much for a big screen than you do for a little one, so it throws off yor reflexs until you get the hang of it.

I tried last night on a PSOne screen, hence my correction of my earlier statements. It doesn't work. Might be brightness/optics issues.

I could've of sworn I had tried the lightbulb trick as well, but it didn't work last night either.

The gun had no trouble registering hits on my 80's slightly out of tune fuzzy TV, but couldn't even register the PSOne screen.

I've tried it on all my LCD's. None worked. I have no idea why.
