7.2volts? i thought you needed 12v ?

Just use a pot to play with the output, and keep testing the output until it is 3.3V. Then measure the pot's resistance, and replace it with a normal resistor. The data sheet shows the adjuster circuit, and when you search google for LM317, one of the top results is for Nationals.com or something. Scroll down their page, and they have a free sample for one of their LM317s.

how many of those 7.2v 3000mah batteries can power a N64 with a screen what says on the batery out but 8.5 (i hape the amount is less.

3000mAh will power your N64p for a good amount of time. Do the LED mod on your screen, and you will get a bit more time.

How many of those battery sticks will power it with the screen
