I'm a bit curious why you want to mess with different controllers. Why not just frankencase the 1st party N64 controller into the case? That way you can keep it simple and leave the controller mostly intact... unless I'm misunderstanding and you want to reshape a completely new trident as part of the case.

the reason i want to use 3rd party guts for the controller is so i can use a gamecube analogue stick in my machine and keep it looking authentic.

other news..

i just got my glue gun and new 30w soldering iron and also my case got delivered

if you care about authenticity that much, there is a mod for using the original controller with pot-joysticks
