You do realize that RAM modules are cross-platform standards, right? And that a stick of RAM from a Dell laptop will generally work in an HP, IBM, Toshiba, and even Apple laptop that was released around the same time. Of course there's some exceptions and new types of RAM are adopted at different times, but there's still a chance it could work.
