i vote babbage

anything with "engine" in the title conjures up images of steam powered kill-machines

plus were talking victorian tech here (even if he barely started it)

maybe if the n-gage was entirely made of wood and string....

Man this IS old.

I vote the Analytical Engine since 180 years later people still remember it. Well, more than will know of the N-Gage. Is that thing still going?

I don't think any developer is doing anything for it.

This thread has caused me to buy an N-Gage on ebay. Hahaha. Pretty cheap too. All the hating made me want it. But really, I just want to screw with Shadow Key and a few others.

how much did you get it for haha? I was gonna grab four games off amazon.com for dirt cheap (less than $3 a game) all from the same seller, but amazon apparently does not combine shipping. No way I'm spending $16 or something outrageous to ship 4 tiny games.

$45, plus shipping. Also, anyone considering an N-Gage should read this. Oh, and it seems that running backups is fairly simple. Yes, backups. Stop looking at me like that.

Anyways, this should be something fun to play around with.

Piracy is really what killed the N-gage. It was RAMPANT, worse than anything ive seen.

I heard the Analytical Engine had a lot of piracy too. People kept stealing Babbage's and Ada's punch cards and churning out lots of cheap knockoffs using steam looms in China.

Stuff like "10,000 Math Equations in One!" and "Super Industrial Mario Revolution New Technology Wars"

Really quite sad. Imagine if Charles Babbage and Nikola Tesla had joined forces!

He would first have to find it :P No, seriously the N-Gage sucks, but digging up such old threads is even worse.

The Analytical Engine was never built, well I think one part was, the "Mill" or the printer or something.

I had an idea for an April Fool's Day portable, can't remember what it was... I don't think it was the Analytical Engine, damn, wish I could remember. It would have been funny. I think it required a backpack.
