Re: Your Musical History
Nice, John! One of the first ones I bought was also Eiffel 65's Europop. No way! Still enjoy that one.
Enjoyed the earlier comments about Electric Light Orchestra.
Thanks a lot - now I can hear in my head is "Don't bring me dowwwwwn. Bruce!"

Re: Your Musical History
This oughtta kill some time. Sorry for my over-use of the word awesome, my vocabulary right now is as bad as like, whatever.
Damn that was a lot of typing.1. Ozzy - Blizzard of Oz
Pretty much the first album I got, Randy Rhoads is the most awesome guitarist ever.
2. Ozzy - Diary of a Madman
More awesomeness from the awesomest guitarist.
3. Judas Priest - Painkiller
Their lyrics are made of 100% cheese but sung very well and the music is awesome.
4. Electric Light Orchestra - Discover
Probably one of the most unique rock bands ever and they kick a hefty amount of ass. I need more of their albums.
5. Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell
Ozzy's great, but you just can't beat the song Die Young. The riff is made of freaking guitar solos, how awesome is that?
6. Alice Cooper - Greatest Hits
Alice Cooper rocks.
7. Judas Priest - Ram it Down
The song Blood Red Skies is copulating epic, and the title track has one of my favorite guitar solos.
8. Pantera - Cowboys from Hell
This album has a lot of my favorite Pantera songs, plus Cemetary Gates is one of the only ballady songs I really like.
9. Pantera - Power Metal and Projects in the Jungle
Pantera was more about epic guitar solos and awesome catchy tunes back in the 80's. Kinda wish they kept some of their flamboyance after they got big.
10. Pink Floyd - Animals and Wish you were here
My 2 favorite Pink Floyd albums. If you don't understand the appeal of Pink Floyd, get high.
11. AC/DC - Back in Black
So many great songs on this album, and seeing them live was pretty much the most awesome thing I have ever witnessed.
12. Megadeth - Peace Sells
My favorite Megadeth album. The title track has one of the spiffiest bass riffs ever and the whole album is great.
13. Guns n Roses - Appetite for Destruction
Pretty much all my favorite GnR songs are on this awesome album.
14. Kid Rock - Devil Without a Cause
I'm generally not a fan of rap, but this album kicks ass.
15. Molly Hatchet - The Essential
One of my favorite southern rock bands.
16. Electric Light Orchestra - The rest of their discography
I would put this higher on the list, but I'm too lazy to change the numbers around. Excellent band.
17. Motley Crue - Dr. Feelgood
I haven't heard the whole album, but what I have heard rocks.
18. AC/DC - The Razor's Edge
Thunderstruck and the title track are 2 of my favorite AC/DC songs.
19. Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Pretty much the first heavy metal album and one of the best.
20. David Allan Coe - Nothing Sacred
I'm not a huge fan of country, but the racist/X-rated lyrics are great.
21. Van Halen - 1984
My favorite Van Halen album.
22. Golden Earring - The Devil Made Us Do It
All the best Golden Earring songs. There's more to them than just Radar Love and Twighlight Zone.
23. Kiss - Box Set
Gene Simmons can be kind of a douche, but Kiss still have some great Rock n Roll music.
24. Lynyrd Skynyrd - Their first album
Awesome southern rock album. Plus Free Bird has an epic guitar solo.
25. Eric Clapton - The Best of Eric Clapton
He's an awesome guitarist and has some great songs.
26. Dio - Holy Diver
Dio's best solo album.
27. Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast
Some of their best stuff. Aces High and Wasted Years are my favorite songs, but overall this is my favorite Maiden album.
28. Rebel Meets Rebel - Rebel Meets Rebel
Pantera with David Allan Coe singing. Pantera was still alive and kicking more ass then ever until Nathan Gale shot Dimebag. Grrrrr.
29. Scorpions - Blackout
I was playing Sonic the Hedgehog the other day while listening to this album and it was awesome.
30. Slayer - Reign in Blood
Raining blood is an awesome song and the rest of the album kicks ass too.

Re: Your Musical History
this is my vaguely chronological list
1) Old Skool Ska: an Anthology
Was a compliation CD of trojan reggae tracks, where i first heard monkey man, Desmond Dekker, the Skatallites etc etc
2) The Divine Madness - Madness compliation
Began my life long love affair with One step Beyond aged 5
that track makes me alive like no other, i think its the closest i'll ever get to having a religious experiance. Instant happiness no matter how crap i feel, crank up the volume and set those boots a' stompin'. Plus the reason i learnt to play the tenor sax pretty much.
3) Brain Eno - Before and After Science
I dont listen to it as much as i should anymore, my dad used to play it a lot when i was little
4) Limp Bizkit - Chocolate starfish
DISCLAIMER: this is only in here because its the first actual CD i ever bought, quite why escapes me
i threw that album away a long rime ago.
5) Metallica - Black Album
First Metal album i ever heard
6) Megadeth - Rust in Peace
Best Metal album i ever heard
7) Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables
This is by far the most life changing album i ever heard, Period. the second i heard Holiday in Cambodia something clicked in my head and it was like "wow, this, is the crap for me" and went out and bought the album, which set me on a course over the next 4 years that literally changed my life forever and i guess kinda made me who i am today
Subhumans - Most CD's are awesome i cant choose
9) Braindead/Civil war - split album
This along with the braindead demo CD which i picked up for £2, are literally the best unsigned bands ive ever heard. Brought a whole new meaning to Ska-core. Pity Civil War broke up and only record the 4 tracks on that CD and i never got to see them live (mainly because braindead is from Germany, and civil war is from austria
)
10) Rancid - Out come the Wolves
Every song on this CD is pure gold, pushed me more down the ska-punk route
11) Operation Ivy - Energy
This is quite possibily one of the most solid album ever recorded. Not a bad track to be found, full of energy and anger. One of the best stripped down, no nonsense ska punk albums out there.
12) Rancid - Life wont wait
The song Corazon de Oro got me through some tough times
13) The Slackers - Better late than never
This one sucked me in bad, such a brilliant brass section
14) The King blues - Under the fog
Good to see a decent band actually succeeding for a change
15) The Aquabats - The return aquabats
The old stuff still makes me smile
There is more, but it wouldnt really fall under the "album" tag so thats for another time
