It would destroy sifufs. Have you seen the iQue? If they made it that small, but with a cart based interface, and added a 3.5" screen, you have an N64p barely bigger than a DS phat.eurddrue wrote:it would probably be a lot smaller than our custom made one's (except sifuf's)
And the iQue is proof Nintendo has not ruled out the download-only game console.

Excellent

Re: The Nintendo DSi
I'm going to trade up to a DS Lite before I even think about getting a DSi. To me, the DSi is just a more gimicky version of the DS, if such a thing is even possible. I don't care about cameras or SD card slots or a color version of PictoChat. For all intents and purposes, I'm going to stick with my normal DS until I get a Lite, and a CFW'd PSP.

Re: The Nintendo DSi
I'll probably hold off until around Thanksgiving. If the last two years are any indication, there will be a limited edition bundle for Black Friday. Possibly new colors and a discount too
. The only bad thing about that is that I heard Nintendo is going to give anyone who buys a DSi before sometime in October 1000 Nintendo points to use on the download channel. Have to register and/or take the system online to get it, I believe.
There is no black or white but rather a million shades of gray...
Re: The Nintendo DSi
I'm waiting for Microsoft to release a portable- with a dual core Atom, and based on ION, with 2 SD slots, and a mini SSD, and two screens, one touch, and two analogue sticks, and 3G capability (with pricey expansion), and Windows 7...
Well, one can dream.

Re: The Nintendo DSi
Sure, but it's still only a DS flashcard that happens to work on the DSi. (It can't play DSi only games or access DSi specific hardware like the SD slot or the cameras or the faster CPU mode)Bibin wrote:I already own a DSi compatible flash card. It's called the TTDSi, as well as a new Acecard.

Re: The Nintendo DSi
I've heard from reliable sources that DSi only games are cryptographically signed, and maybe encrypted (unlike current games) which is why flashcarts can't boot into the new DSi mode. A flashcart can still pretend to be an old DS game and get into the legacy mode. To get into DSi mode you'd need to know Nintendo's private encryption key. I think there are a couple of threads on the subject on gbatemp.palmertech wrote:Are there any DSi only games to test that?

Re: The Nintendo DSi
Just looked into it... You are right, and more. Turns out none of these DSi flashcarts work on the pre-release European DSi units, only on the launch Japanese and Australian DSis!
You can bet money that the US versions will have the same blocks in place. And with upgradable firmware, Nintendo can finally get a piece of that war that Sony has been fighting with the PSP all along.
Sucks for you, Bibin. It is looking very likely that your flashcart will be useless.

To me, the DSi is to the DS what the Wii is to the GC. A bit faster, and a gimmick to push shovel-ware. Homebrew could be interesting for it, though....
Re: The Nintendo DSi
Man, I buy games, I just then put them on the card for convenience. For the few DSi specific games I'd care about I'd just buy the damn things, or more likely use the built-in download feature.nitro2k01 wrote:I've heard from reliable sources that DSi only games are cryptographically signed, and maybe encrypted (unlike current games) which is why flashcarts can't boot into the new DSi mode. Also, guys, the faster CPU mode and 16MB of ram seriously opens up some potent for better games.

Re: The Nintendo DSi
I don't get why manufacturers put so many lockouts and crap on. Look, just let people use flashcarts, a very small percentage of people have them, and an even smaller percentage use them for piracy.

Re: The Nintendo DSi
Because without locks, you would have a lot more piracy. The low piracy rate is only due to the difficulty of doing it.
And the PSP has, what, a 30% piracy rate or something?

Re: The Nintendo DSi
Honestly, I own all the games I enjoy regularly, and if I can't use my flash card, I hardly give a damn.
