Huh. I always wondered why some SNESes were such disgusting shades of puke-ish yellow. Flame-retardant additive... was that really necessary? I doubt they would catch fire without it.

I have seen SNES systems that didn't change color (including mine) - is that because it wasn't coated with the stuff, or is it dependent upon the amount of time sitting in direct sunlight or something?

different formulation of flame retardent that doesnt oxidize with exposure to light i suppose. also will be mixing up a batch of this stuff later today, will post results when i have some to post

It works on SNESes. Someone on the AtariAge forum tried it and worked great.

so far minimal luck with it, probably due to my only having a little 6% and a lot of 3% peroxide, my mom said she would pick up some from the beauty supply store in town on her way home from work that should be at least 6% if not higher, will keep you all posted!

Yeah, 3% and 6% peroxide probably needs a lot longer to work properly. Might need 36 hours.

Apparently the stuff they sell for bleaching hair is 12%. Next time I hit the stores (probably to pick the last remaining bits of marrow out of Circuit City's carcass) I'll see if there's anything peroxide-based at the pool supply store. (I read some chlorine-free hot tub chemicals are.)

well i now have a bottle of 20 volume (6%) and 40 volume (12%) so i will probably test this out with those and post pictures and such as soon as i can
