You know you could ignore the spam threads. Have some tolerance.

Re: Let's be serious for a second.
I think maybe the mods should be more strict with spammy topics like they were in the late summer/early fall.
Also, I think it would be great if we had an automotive/ gearhead forum, even though we are mainly an electronics community. I have wanted to make A biuld thread of a gokart I plan to make, but I, like bacteria, have no place to post stuff like that.

+1. Don't like a thread, just ignore it. Better than posting under Nazi rule.Rekarp wrote:You know you could ignore the spam threads. Have some tolerance.

Re: Let's be serious for a second.
I have just always seen forum 42 as a place for posting interesting and stimulating conversations that did not fit in any other topic.
Like the last thread I posted, it was the one about the alternative sleep setups. That thread actually served a purpose of showing some people it existed and getting some personal info forum member who knew someone who did it. Those are the kind of things i think forum 42 is here for. Every once and awhile threads start out well enough and turn silly and I can understand that. But if people start purposely trying to turn threads into random or spamy things I will be angry.

Indeed, that is what I was saying.gamemasterAS wrote:Every once and awhile threads start out well enough and turn silly and I can understand that. But if people start purposely trying to turn threads into random or spamy things I will be angry.
An example of the spammy threads was the recent "1337" thread, and "1338" thread, etc - complete waste of time; unlike a general thread that diverts, which is entirely fine. In other words, if a topic has an intention, great; if it is just spammy, as the examples above; should be deleted. It isn't a case of being harsh or whatever, just common sense.
Re: Let's be serious for a second.
Just put it in F42 or Tech Q&A. I'm interested, so just post it somewhere.themadhacker wrote:I have wanted to make A biuld thread of a gokart I plan to make, but I, like bacteria, have no place to post stuff like that.
EDIT: Hmm, could Tech Q&A be turned into general tech? Then it could include computers, cars, etc.

I always viewed Forum 42 as being for random stuff that doesn't fit anywhere else.... And I kind of like most of the worthless topics

Forum 42 is no place to put a portablizing project; Forum 42 is not a sensible forum space; Tech Q&A is not appropriate either.vskid wrote:Just put it in F42 or Tech Q&A. I will up my Turbo Grafx project WIP on my site anyway, however I wanted to put it here first (will give it a few more days to see what happens about a new forum section here first); either way it will be documented...

Re: Let's be serious for a second.
My feelings on the matter.
tl;dr: A spam board could very well be beneficial.
I like the idea of such a thing, myself, but I wouldn't be crushed if it didn't happen, either.

Between these two opinions is where the moderation is forced to stand. We have never been the "Nazis" we have been labeled, there is a point where things get too out of hand. A perfect example of this is the recent thread titled "1338."gamemasterAS wrote:I have just always seen forum 42 as a place for posting interesting and stimulating conversations that did not fit in any other topic.

I present you with a suggestion: post casually, but take into consideration how legitimate and stimulating the topic is.
We seriously shouldn't be having this problem.

I still don't understand why people are making such a big deal about spammy threads in F42. Its like people have nothing else to complain about.

Perhaps if more people here were making projects they would be less inclined to have the need to start spammy topics in the first place.
