well Heat combined with vibrations from the fan and mostly the dvd drive cause the gpu to shift so maybe if you got it really hot and shook it a lot (without a disc inside) maybe that would work.

That would be extremely painful. Have you ever tried to shake something that is extremely hot?

This may sound crazy but what if you got something hot and just let the xbox breath it in like a blow dryer our some thing that may lossen up the joints enough to make it rrod

Well I did the towel trick to my 360 and it has worked ever since, I just leave it on a very very flat surface and put it on some risers to keep the heat away from it. I also keep it horizontal to make sure that the cpu/gpu stays connected.

one thing you could try to make it 3 light RROD is to run it upside down (assuming the disc drive will work upside, will it? I never tried...) because it will likely make the heatsink separate from the chip, causing the graphics chip to desolder itself. This could, however, cause a number of other problems like a permanent E-74 or a 2 light RROD. XBOX 360 is epic fail all around, there isn't a quality component anywhere on that piece of crap. I told everyone to buy a PS3, but did they listen? no. Thats also really lame that Microsoft isn't repairing 1 light and 2 light RRODs yet as they are becoming about 1/3 of the total epic fail XBOX 360s.

The 360 would be good if it was manufactured as according to plan.
Just sayin' .

They are, the problem IS the plan.

X-clamps are a stupid idea, the PCB is copulate flexible (seriously!?), the solder is waaaay too low temp vs. the temperatures produced by the chips, the cooling system is a joke, the heat sinks are also a joke, the metal inner case (RF shield?) might as well be a pizza oven because there is hardly any ventilation, the disc drives must have come from the 99¢ store, even the face plate will inevitably pop a spring sooner or later and leave you with flappy plastic plates, if they don't come off altogether.

I don't see how this is news to anyone as every Microsoft product, be it hardware or software, has usually turned out to be total garbage with glitches from day 1. The one exception is probably the original XBOX and that's only because all the parts are off the shelf from other manufacturers thrown into a weakly disguised computer case.

My friend sent it in as a RROD, got it back today, seems to be fine so far. If you have 1 or 2 red lights, try sending it in as a RROD. Just play stupid (aka: average person) with the tech support.

another way is to stick 2 toothpicks in the back hole and into the fans so they cant spin, then it'll 2 red ring meaning its overheating then just let it die
