What's the hardest portable to build? NOT A NOOB QUESTION!

yeh but in order to run it on windows 2000 you have to emulate its OS all they relly got working is halo so far

and there is relly no reason for alter a computer into one considering the parts in the xbox that cant be swaped out would have to same power draw so its now worth wild

Why do that? Buy Halo PC Version? Its much better than X-BOX, now, if they can get Unreal Championship 1 & 2 working

The OS used on the XBox uses the same kernel as Win2K and WinXP, supposedly.
I agree though, that there really isn't too much point in modding a normal PC into an XBox, but for some other reasons as well:
- You probably wouldn't be able to get that stuff any smaller, without hours of fiddling and resoldering teeny pieces.
- Finding off-the-shelf parts is not only not power-effective, but not cost-effective (the XBox already exists and works fine in its present form) and not size-effective (you'd have to deal with sockets on the boards and crap like that that'd make it bigger than the XBox board anyway.

why not just leave your xbox a home base system? stop talking about ripping it apart, if it is so hard than dont do it!

Besides, if there were no challenges in life, things would be incredibly boring.

My Theory:
The Xbox is just a PC. And its games are just PC games. The thing is, there is some sort of protection in the games and system, so they will only work on Xbox. If someone could break this, then they could run the program on a PC. I wouldn't think that you would have to use the same parts. Sure, the games may be optimized for the Xbox's specs, but they ought to work on a similarly powerful PC. I had a laptop or Mini-itx PC in mind.

A Nano is small enough for a portable if it plays X-BOX games, and if it doesn't, it sure as hell plays PC games!

Yeah the Xbox is a PC, and acording to the people at Xbox-linux there are three security measures that look for Microsoft code. I know thats to prevent illegal or unauthorized stuff, but to my knowlege in order to run Xbox games on the PC you'd need to copy the kernal and bios so that the PC or atleast the games think its an Xbox. Its a shame we dont know if Microsoft made any changed to the 2000 kernal or not, becuase then we could just run them on windows 2000.
