My taste buds don't appear to be maturing...
Moderator: Moderators
If you keep on eating junk food, your taste buds will never mature. Simple as that. When you're used to a diet with too much fat and sugar (Junk food often contains a lot added sugar just for this reason) other things will taste slightly sharp, or bitter, or sour, or whatever you want to call it.
So, yeah. Try to stay off the junk completely. (That includes sodas, even diet sodas) and you'll see how quickly your taste buds will mature.

Actually, as long as it's cold, I can drink tap. I can't do it straight from the faucet, but ever since we moved into a house with a freezer that dispenses chilled water and ice, I've stopped drinking bottled water. I drink water during the day and diet root beer at night... It could be worse, right?

Anyway, back to the original topic, while tastes do change over years, eating vegetables and eating healthy being the automatic thing when you get older is a myth. It's gone being the default, along with many of the things that used to be considered part of being an 'adult' of generations past. You will start to like things you didn't, but it won't happen overnight. Sugar and salt were highly lacking in our ancestors diet, so much so that we always crave it, as the ones that didn't crave it died for a lack of it.

"We used the miraculin tablets, then started trying every sour thing we could find. I remember straight lemon juice as being pretty good. I also tried vinegar and sauerkraut juice. [...] The next morning we awakened with ulcers in our mouths, barely able to talk. Sure, these things tasted sweet, but they were still highly acidic."

...You had to bring up Bagle Bites...
I didn't know what they were, actually... then I looked them up, and now I want them.
Let's take this one step at a time. Breakfast... I'm getting sick of Pop-Tarts anyway, but they're cheap and quick. So tell me, what can I eat for breakfast that still cheap and quick, but also healthy?

Beagle bites? I thought Chinese food was good for you ;DRekarp wrote:Stop eating preprocessed foods (Pop tarts, beagle bites ect)
I will basically refuse anything thats super sugary. I eat roughly 2.5 lbs of steak a week ($6 steaks are AWESOME)
Also I try anything I haven't had before. I consume what is set in front of me.
