you know Ki I know this if not what you want to hear but why dont you just get a famicom and alter it to run on your Pal tv + new adapter for your outlets

(pretty shure you can do that not there probubley is a RGB mod for if so if getting it to pal fails component might be an option if you TV has that well anyway if you want to do that start a new thread about converting it to pal and maybe the outher members can help you case I dont know)

there is a chance SgtBowhack might be able to hook you up with one

as he likes to make it very clear he is in Japan and he dose talk about getting stuff for outher and tthey are most likeley much ezer to find there

first off, rgb and component are way different.
Second, the famicom can't output rgb (without replacing the entire ppu that is)

I have seen Famicoms pretty cheap. But I don't think the Famicom was technically capable of anything the NES isn't. The NES might need a teeny bit of modding to enable some of those features (such as sound mixing), but I think trying to modify a Famicom to do PAL would be harder. You could likely figure out a way to get the NES to do anything you wanted pretty easily though.
The mic in the controller could likely be wired up to an NES, though it might require an internal mod (if it uses some pin that the NES controller port doesn't). I'd not be surprised if it used the same two pins as the USA zapper though, as far as the signaling is concerned.
As for the expansion port not being a controller slot: errr... yes it is. That's all that ever plugged into it. Zappers and ROB might as well be controllers. And if one of the controllers break down, the signal can be overridden on that port. So, thanks for your "defense" but maybe you should consider the definition of a "controller port" before talking back. Do you plug your zapper or four score into a "controller port" on the American NES? Yes? Look at the Japanese one. Where do you plug those in?... the defense rests.

hi
i really want to mod the nes cause I'd like to build a universal version for us eu and jp games it should have all the funktions a famicom has I allready figured out how to make the user/expansionport(the15pin one) on a nes THX for the help here in the forum,
but I still don't know how to wire the mic also the later famicom version had a 9pin controller port(correct me if this is not right) and I still don't know if the 8. and 9. pin are connected to something cause the nes only has 7pins

Do you know if there are any other differences between nes and famicom

Happy Eastern to everyone

In actuality, modding a Famicom to be universal (albeit NTSC) is probably easier. The problem is that the original Famicom was RF only, and so video output will be a problem if you're outside of Japan (because the channels are fixed to the Japanese band). The microphone issue... I was unaware of. But if I find one cheap enough, (preferably broken) I'll get a Famicom and see if I can trace the signals. I must admit, I am intrigued :)

I don't think I'll be abel to get a famicom they are very expensive in germany I would like to get a disk system they aren't cheap either but they can be used on nes (with a few mods) the problem is where do I get them

also I couldn't use a ntsc console cause we use pal in germany

It would be great if you trace the mic

could you tell me what the last sentence means"I must admit, I am intrigued"
think I'm missing some vokabulary

Happy Eastern (do you celebrate it in japan?)

Just thought I'd let you know that the holiday is Easter, not Eastern. At first I thought it was a typo, but you kept on doing it, so I just thought I'd let you know :)

I see a line labeled "MIC" connected to data line 2 of the nes cpu through a 10k ohm resistor and a .01 micro Fahrad decoupling capacitor.

Edit:
It's also tied to a lot of other parts including the aux port and the cartridge port.
