Line-in isn't limited to any particular bitrate, since it's an analog interface. It takes the full 20-20,000 hz frequency response you can hear. It depends on what the software is set to record to. (Audacity uses uncompressed AIFF, I think.)
Compressing your audio to 128k/sec is more detrimental to your audio than the interface could ever be.
Frustrated. I give up. Help me out (Recording Audio)

Audacity uses uncompressed AIFF for its scratch files. I believe your PC uses at least a 44khz/sec sampling rate, the same as a CD. (If my old Power Mac 7600 from 1996 does, anything modern should.)
Plug your device into the BLUE jack, record with AUDACITY
Seriously man you're making this FAR MORE COMPLICATED than it has to be.

Okay, I've recorded all the bits and pieces for my song.
The problem:
When I copied the audacity file from one PC to the other, I somehow lost the ability to hear the entire vocal channel. It's there, I see the left and right channels jump, I hear the guitar I recorded that I "sang" to (you'll hear it soon if it's done) but no matter what I don't get any audio from the vocals.
I KNOW I did before it was copied over. I also know that exporting it as a WAV does nothing to help it.
Hmmm...now it's magically back.
Now for the biggest challenge: Lining up all the instruments. If it works this'll be the first time ever that's it's worked 100%
And still, maybe it's just the distortion settings that sound good through an amp, but it sounds like dirt. Oh well, it's not a real song anyways, it's more of a comedy.

Did you just copy the audacity project file? Remember it has an entire folder full of data files that go along with it...
