Serial-to-usb-to-usb hard drive = plausible jury rig?

If that's the case, this is an even more pointless endeavor because it's already got USB ports and the capability to use an IDE hard drive. Sure you lose the capability of booting PSX games off the hard drive, but since copying your PS2 games to it is illegal anyway you might as well just chip it.

Either way, you're going to need some kind of logic between the PS2's DVD drive connector and the hard drive's USB interface.
