Finally... the touchscreen iPod (will suck balls)

So...either an extra 8 GB or a phone? Which one would you choose? Now something is also bothering me...does anybody actually have 160GB of Music/Videos? Is it possible to even fill up the 80GB Model?

I have a 2GB memory stick for my PSP, its fine for homebrew, a few short videos, and music (I have like 1GB of 128kbps mp3's on it). Only problem is putting movies on it, they can range from 400-700MB depending on quality and length, so I have to delete stuff to make one fit, but I don't really care, theres not many times that I could watch a movie on it that I don't have access to a TV. My thing is, why carry around 3 days worth of movies if your battery will only last for 3 or 4 hours?

I agree with bic, the touch would make a great PDA, but Apple will likely be just as stupid with it as Nintendo has been with the Wii and DS (they make something that could be awesome, but they don't use it to its full potential).

I dislike Apple, how hard can it be to make it frikin drag-and-drop, iTunes is FAIL? Thats what I love about my PSP, I can plug it into almost any computer and add/remove music, etc.

It's as easy as pie to make it drag and drop, but Apple won't as they'll lose money on iTunes as iPod owners share their music.

I have a question regarding the figures on Apple's site.

The 160GB can only hold as many pictures as the 80GB?

How can they hold about half to almost as many pictures as the huge Classics? The video stats work out, but not the pictures.

I don't understand why they even bothered making these stupid new iPods that are exactly like the iPhone but don't hae a phone. Especially because they're the same price!

Why didn't they just wait awhile and make a really kick ass iPhone (20GB, phone, video, internet (with flash and HTML 4), and more durable (less prone to scratches, dents, and cracks)). I bought something called an invisable shield for my video. Works great! Not a single scratch on it, and best of all you don't need to worry about taking it on or off. It's like heavy duty plastic inconspicuously glued to the pod.

Its now 2" which isn't too bad, the first 2 gens were 1.5", the video/classic are still only 2.5", the touch/iphone are 3.5", and the PSP (the one device to rule them all and in the darkness destroy the others) is 4.3".

8 gigs is plenty enough for everything you'll ever need.

Unless you use lossless codecs like me, my small collection (15 or so albums as FLACs, and some assorted stuff) is about 6 - 7GB total.

waste of time/money in my opinion, why pay 400$ for 16gb when like 200 will get you a 30gb zen vision M or an archos or something else, ipod = overrated, only reason i bought mine was becasue it was cheap on ebay (4th gen non color ipod 50$) and had 30gb, dunno if it was the battery dieing or the hdd crapping out but it never worked 100% great evar

Because it's basically a 16 gig PDA, and $250 will buy you an 80 gig iPod Classic. The iPod Classic is a bargain, $$-to-GB wise.

1) the iPod touch is beautiful and a much desired update
2) you don't need all of your music and videos on it
3) if you can't fit all your music on the 8GB model, you probably pirated allot of it, can get rid of a bunch of it, or (in my case) downloaded a bunch of free & legal concerts from archive.org
4) it's the first iPod touch model, give them a break, they will soon update the memory or drop the price, as with the iPhone.
5) it is the best DAP for it's features (no one else has gotten wifi right yet)

I think the iPodTouch is neat. Size to storage capacity is a little low, but what would you expect from a non-HDD based device? You can only go so big with solid-state before the price skyrockets.

The 80gb for $249 and 160gb for $349 really is a good price, and probably among the cheapest you'll see for that amount of storage for awhile. And yes, my own collection of personally-ripped stuff would nearly fill the 80gb one.

I've ever owned an iPod, and probably never will until they make one that I can plug into my comp and drag/drop stuff onto it.

mmm....can't wait to get the 160GB iPod.....a few trips to the library and I could EASILY fill that up with just music (already my 30GB is filled, and that's just with some of the CDs my family owns)....mmmm....can't wait.....so much music.....*orgasms*

Of course, I'll have to get the money, but hopefully I can either save up enough or ask for it for Christmas or something .

As for the iPod touch.....way to little storage for me to even consider. Looks cool, though. If it had 160GB of space I'd definitely want it .

well i dont need 80gb mp3 player, if they made a well featured cheap 6 or 8gb one i would consider buying one but they dont, by cheap i mean sub 100$, you can get 8gb compact flash cards for under 100$ and a simple MP3 player isnt that complicated!, something like the 4th gen ipod (non video) but smaller would be pretty nice. unfortunatly for me companies love to gouge prices (apple probably makes 50-80% profit on its ipods for example because they know idiots will pay hundreds for their crap because its APPLE OMG)
