$100 dollar laptop

The $100 price tag is the goal for the project, not it's current selling price. In the video they mention that the current models cost $140 each. The OLPC is hoping that as the project get underway the price of the materials will decrease and so a $100 laptop will be achieved.

Additional orders will also help drive the price down. You know you're selling to some heavy hitters when your prospective clients are countries.

Either that, or the politicians of the world are seriously friendly with one of their major components' distributors.

Thats what I was thinking but If I remember right they upped the basic model to 250 bucks.

looks like you're right about the price--$250. But unless some of the reviews have their facts mixed up, the internal flash drive has doubled in size too (from 4gb to 8gb on the basic with the upgrade version at 16gb). Still the best buy in the laptop world, and I'm certainly still getting one.

at least it's price hasn't ballooned as much as the OLPC
