I could help with the N64 and genesis section, but it depends on if the people here are the kinds of people I want to help, so I might help or I might not.

Right. So I'll create a subdomain and install the WIKI software there?

Can the database be imported, or is it long gone?

I already uploaded an installation to my site and threw a subdomain on it. If you want to host it, that's no problem too, or you could just mask a subdomain on your site to mine.

Also, my guess would be that the other database is long gone, unless someone can work miracles here.

Cool. I've already set up wiki.benheck.com as our first real subdomain EVUH.

This domain will have its own FTP, so if anyone would like to volunteer to be the top-level Wiki admin, please email me or discuss here. This person will get their own FTP account and be able to do any administration they need.

I'll probably install MediaWiki since it seems the most popular, robust and free.

I would not mind being an admin. I have a few pinouts that I have made for things that nobody else has. 3rd party controllers and such.

I'll admin. I've used MediaWiki before (on a local sandbox install and one for a college project).

The forum staff should have admin/mod privileges within the wiki system. (Not necessarily FTP access.) That way we can protect, move, and delete pages without nagging you about it.

I'm getting the following while trying to install:

Please include all of the lines below when reporting installation problems.

* PHP 5.0.4 installed
* Found database drivers for: MySQL
* Warning: PHP's safe mode is active. You may have problems caused by this, particularly if using image uploads.
* PHP server API is apache2handler; ok, using pretty URLs (index.php/Page_Title)
* Have XML / Latin1-UTF-8 conversion support.
Your session save path appears to be invalid or is not writable. PHP needs to be able to save data to this location in order for correct session operation. Please check that session.save_path in PHP.ini points to a valid path, and is read/write/execute for the user your web server is running under.

Can't remember how to change the Php.ini, remember it was kind of a pain though.

we went through the whole "whos an admin" thing on the last wiki, it turns out that theres basically no advantages to being an admin except deleting pages I think. anyways, anyone with an account pretty well has full control, thats the point of a wiki

. you cant move pages afaik, at any rate its just as easy to recreate and copypaste, which anyone can do.

There needs to be one knowledgeable, /reliable/ person who gets the FTP access. im voting for an existing mod like bic or sky.

Go into php.ini, check session.save_path's value, and set that path to a CHMOD 777 attribute, or change session.save_path to a different path.
