Epicenter (according to the GP2x forums) left the scene "under a cloud". He used to love it, and at one time, as I recall, offered someone $1000 if they created a GBA emulator for it - so he can't really hate it, huh? Don't know if he did pay the GBA emulator author for the GP2x version or not, probably like someone said they would pay $40 to the first person who made a D-pad mod for the GP2x, or made this possible (I never got anything!!). (I don't care, didn't do it for that reason anyway).
Anyway, no system is perfect, especially handhelds - GBA: bad screen, GBA SP: fiddly to play, GBA Micro: too tiny, PSP: hard for homebrew and emulators, widescreen issue with emulators, fiddly to use, bad tv-out, expensive software, etc. The GP2x is built fine for what it is, it has quite good speed, plays lots of software, is fairly easy to open and play about with - only thing as far as I am concerned is crap tv-out - if it wasn't for that, (eg if it did RGB not composite), I would make my own case mod for it (PSone screen) and make it perfect!! After all, no point building a case mod and improvements if you are looking at a screen with poor image, is there?

There's bound to be a way to get RGB out of the GP2X, especially since most everything uses it. I'd truly be shocked if the GP2X uses composite or S-video natively to display images to its screen. There's got to be a scan converter of some kind built into the motherboard. Someone just needs to tap into the front side of that circuit.

I never said it would be easy, but digital RGB is pretty much the standard now-a-days for LCDs. Has anyone ever tried to find a datasheet for the LCD used in the GP2X? That would give us a pretty good idea as to what kind of video format is output. Of course, it would also take a converter of some kind to get it into something usable.......anyway, it was just a thought.
