Call them what you want, but they're still scams, and they're all about greed. Let's say it costs 20 dollars to join and you have to get 10 people to join to get the free stuff. Not only are your "friends" (referrals) out the $20 and their information, but these companies are only paying say 160 dollars on your "prize", so they still make money. So unless the people you referred get 10 people to sign up they basically pooled some money to buy you a new toy and gave their mailing info to some random company in the process.

Why is mailing information so important? Your name and address wind up on every mailing list under the sun, and if your credit card number is attached then they have that too.

If you're too cheap to buy an iPod/Zune/camera/PSP/DS/whatever outright, you probably don't need one in the first place.

Yes, of course the company makes money, that's the only reason they do this.
Yes, they probably get the prizes at wholesale.
And yes, overall, a lot of money is lost, but I'M out $20, so's my friend, and my other friend, and my other friend, you get the idea?

That's why you buy prepaid Visa gift cards. You spend the money you need to get the offer, then transfer the rest of the money on the gift card into your paypal account. Thats what I did. And also, you only sign up for the cheapest offer. Mine only cost $1.87

I'm also trying out something. I'm using 10 different computers with different internet so it logs different IP addresses, then creating 10 bogus email addresses, then creating 10 accounts under my original correct account. Then I will get the cheapest available offer for each of the accounts which has turned out to be a $1.87. Hopefully it will work. If not then I'm out 10 bucks. No big. But if it does work...

Even though you're dealing with a pyramid scheme, it is a legitmate business operation... Would this thing you're trying out constitute fraud? I'm not saying I have any problem defrauding pyramid schemes, I'm just saying that you might want to keep it on the down-low.

OfferCentric isn't a pyramid scheme Ecksem Diem.

You do an offer -> OfferCentric gets paid by whatever company it was -> Your "referrals" do the same -> OfferCentric uses small amount of the money to get you a "free gift"

Pyramid schemes just charge you a fee to sign up, then you get others to sign up, and some of the money they paid goes to you, so on...

it isnt a pyramid scheme you are correct, its more accuratly described as a matrix scheme which is similar and quasi-legal in the us

And the offers also scam you. I've signed up for one offer that didn't give me credit, and it keeps charging my Prepaid Visa for the same amount. I only have $5 left on a $25 card. This is not going on any longer...
