That's just great those are nintendo consoles and don't break really... That PC would break with ease. It's extremely fragile I'm sure because I held one today at compusa when I was buying a laptop with my mom (it's hers not mine) and it felt very very flimsy.

I know you don't know me from Adam, but I figured I'd post.

A friend of mine bought something very similar about three years ago as an import from Japan.

He was able to install and run a bunch of older computer games and run MAME, StarCon2, Doom, etc...

He had a lot of fun with it for a few days. Unfortunately, as a game machine, it was pretty lacking. He wanted to play StarCon2 on it, but he wound up playing through it on his PC because it really was impractical to play games on it.

The keys are REALLY small to fit a full qwerty keyboard on it. Also, since it's so small, it's the sort of thing that you would want to hold like a gameboy and use one's thumbs for button-mashing. The keyboard really wasn't very good for this, both in button placement, size, and how closely they are spaced together.

He wound up just using it for PDA-type stuff and playing things like solitaire or that jewel game with the stylus.

But it sounds like you're dead-set on getting this thing regardless.

If you are interested in getting a device for handheld gaming, you really are better off getting something designed for gaming.

It would be nifty, but definitely not worth the money. Get a GP2X or something if you want emulation and save your money for something more useful like a car.

If you really want portable PC games, get a real laptop. It'll be cheaper and easier to use. So what if it doesn't fit in your pocket, you'd crush it on accident anyways.

definitely try out one in real life, doing what you intend to use for (i.e. download the Halo demo to it,) before deciding for sure. It looks really awesome on paper, but when I tried one at Staples (I think it was a UX90, but pretty close), I hated it. definitely not worth $1500, IMO.

Consider getting a lower end ultraportable on eBay instead.

$1500? Wow. That's a lot of money for something like that. Buy a laptop, my brother got his for Â£600 (roughly translates to $1200), it's cheaper, it's more value for money because games run on a laptop, he doesn't play much games, but he played Unreal Tournament 2004 at full speed with no lag on Max settings. I bet the screen (it's at a res of 1280x800) would look nice playing WMVHD as well.
