Laptops are going to be limited from the get-go. They have almost no expandability, only real areas are the hard drive and the ram. If you're laptop is performing poorly put in up to a gigabyte. My HP laptop I would say was a piece of crap, but then I upped the ram to 1.25GB, that changed the performance dramatically. Paging is down, lag is very rare and programs start and run more smoothly.

@TheOnlyOneHeFears, Why are you embarrassed by having integrated video and audio on your laptop? The only way to get around that would be to buy a PCMCIA expansion card for audio and graphics. Both of which I wouldn't advise unless their used for demanding things like video or audio production, gaming doesn't fall into that demanding I spoke of.

If anyone really feels they have a limited or crappy laptop, go look at the custom built laptop on Hackaday.com. That thing is about as close to a expandable laptop today. Sorry to say it but they are embedded systems with little expansion, they do what they do best, a light portable computer.

AMD Sempron 2400
1.6ghz
640mb RAM
45gb HDD
GeForce MX4000
Windows XP
old 17" 75hz CRT

It sucks because I need to turn it on/off about 5 times to get it booted. Once it's on, it's pretty stable though.

laptop
25mhz 386
12mb RAM
180mb HHD
Windows 3.1
very small and low resolution 16 color display

Sadly, that is my most powerful working laptop. I think it's time for an upgrade :P

My laptop is crappy because it is SO GHETTO!

I have a cord dangling out the back to charge it, my AC cable is wrapped in duct tape, and the whole front of my laptop is duct taped because it was falling apart. Plus the case is fading in color due to water damage.

BUT IT STILL WORKS! :D

People upgrade and get new computers though, so that changes.
