11.1V or 14.8V for Gamecube?

I've read somewhere that you used 11.1V pack for your portable and than increased it to 14.7V by adding 3 AAs in series. Why did you do this? And what Volts is the bottom value for Gamecube to run properly?

:? That doesn't sound smart... mixing Li-Ions and AAs? Ehh... don't try this at home, kids. :lol:
