Another Idea---probably a little less possible, would be to, after so much money has been earned, take a drawing of names of all the people who donated, and give away a prize (maybe a portable?!?!?!?). Also make it possible to win for anyone donating over 10 or 20 dollars, and every certain amount would be another chance to win. Again just an idea, but it would get more people donating....

This is a great idea, but I'd like to offer a bit of advise to whoever decides to manage this. Check with a lawyer or a CPA to get everything straight and all the proper paper work filed before hand. I'm a member of a motorcycle message board and a guy there started a fund to help people who had accidents with bills and stuff while they couldn't work. When it came time for him to file his income taxes he was hit pretty hard since he hadn't gotten the proper paperwork filled out before hand. It wasn't like he lost his house or anything, but he was liable for about $3,000 or $4,000 extra in taxes that year as a result. If anyone wants, I can put you in touch with him.
