they already have something like this it is when the companies take multiple print outs of traces and then layer them inbetween an insulator, hereby having a very small, easily solderable surface, and it works very well

Because its simpler to start off with 2 boards then to make one, cut it and rewire the traces.
Its also cheaper for manufacturers to make the one board where possible most things dont need to be smalla nd when they do thay are usually using smaller parts and more complicated boards.

As a hobby goer it isn't really helpful cause of how hard it is to do cause of layered boards

more simpler boards can be cut and resoldered onto ribbon cables so it can be folded perfect example is the atari 2600

More complicated ones like snes and n64 etc really can't not saying its impossible but the amount of time and skill needed to find the layered traces is just to much and your more than likely not gonna make it work.

So yes it can be done on simpler boards but on more advance boards i would forget it.

And the reason we got onto flexiable boards is we where saying at a manufacturers point of view its ablit useless to make flexable boards unless the product needs to have them.

The fact is the game console boards where made to do what they are ment to do they weren't made in mind of years later people hacking them and making portables the more powerful the game system the more complex the board and layers it has

I dont get it though, sure you would make a chip half as long but wouldent that make it twice as thick sure you could make an otherwise long portable short enough to fit in your hand, but it would be like a foot thick. But still at least your thinking, when you start to grasp the concept of the boards eventually your thinking could lead to some great ideas.
ahh. but opinions can change and facts can be faulty.

Well, it really wouldn't matter about the thickness. Seriosuly. Look at how thin a circutboard is. Then imagine that tripiled. Still not a foot thick.

But it does matter cause the board maybe thin the componets aren't and then you need enough space or padding for the heat they produce and ot make sure nothing shorts out.

Then your got a problem with batteries and carts which will add even more to the thickness

...The batteries and carts are unfixable, but did you read the first post? COOLANT GEL. Like the stuff in the Dreamcast (I heard that somewhere)!
