Well If I do that, why do I need to use a different heat sink? The one that the N64 came with seems to fit in the space.

1 -- If I use the N64's heatsink, do I need a fan?

2 -- When I was looking on the Texas Instruments website for a PTH08080 DC/DC converter I noticed that there was a bunch of different kinds.

PTH08080WAS, PTH08080WAT, PTH08080WAZ, etc. Does it matter which one I pick

Yes, use a fan also, for air circulation.

Just in case any of you guys are curious, I thought I'd let the world know my progress.

First I bought a N64, with Zelda OT, Star Wars Rogue squadron, a N64 controller (with junk joystick

) and a memory card for $18.00. Wasn't that a deal

Then I bought a replacement joystick for about $10.00

Then I bought an expansion pack for $15.00 (It's still coming in the mail)

Then I requested a sample PTH08080WAT

oops, so I'm going to get the PTH08080WAH right now.

I have a case all designed and would give you a picture but I don't know how to post one.

I currently need to buy 2" x 1/16" x ? piece of aluminum, the PSone screen, some black engraving plastic, and various parts from mouser.

Do I need a heatsink on the expansion pack? I'm goin to use the red one.
Also won't a PTH08080WAS work? If not why?

If you take the expansion pak out of its case, then a heatsink would be nice, but not necessary. Good luck soldering it with your Radioshack iron though. If you want to do that, my advice would be to get a nice Weller or equivalent tool.

what do you mean? I'm just going to plug it in the N64. And by the way... is the red expansion packs guts and taller than the normal one. if so... this could be a problem.

And my question about the PTH08080WAS is still standing, why won't this one work, why do I need a PTH08080WAH.

Yes, the PTH08080WAS will work too. The only difference is how they are supposed to be mounted on a pcb. They are the same thing except they are ready to be mounted differently.

Ok, I finally ordered the PSone screen. so now the only things I need are

3 LEDs
Batteries
3 Heat Sinks
14 Tact Switches
Black Engraving plastic
2" x 1/16" x 5' piece of aluminum (for the sides)
And finally some heatsink glue... by the way could you guys give me a Mouser part number for that stuff, or tell me how to make it, if you can.

Okay now here's my big question, I wired up the PTH08080 and hotglued it to the N64 board, but I'm using a 2.2K Ohm Resistor instead of a 2k,This will undervolt the 3.3V line slightly, will that be okay?

Another question. If I'm right the PSone screen has 2 regulators, and then the N64 has 1, plus the one for the 3.3V line. Isn't that terribly inneficient, could I take the regulator off of the N64 so that I only have 3 going instead of 4!?

Oh yah I got another question, I plan on putting a headphone jack to the PSone sceen. I know how to do this, but what I need to know is there are 3 areas on a headphone jack

o=tip ==middle =[]=end
o==[]

Is the tip ground, the middle R, and the End L?

I really couldn't tell you, if its just barely under 3.3 you should be fine, and I'm happy you like my diagram

But I'd wait for someone who actually built an N64p to tell you if it's ok, i just made the diagram

I know about the headphone jack, i did this for my GCp. Let me see if i still have that part wired up and i'll post the correct pinouts.
