Best Snes RPGs.

I go for FF3 it was the first FF that felt like a movie. It also featured main characters that I didn't want to see dead. I previously liked FFVII more, but when I recently went back and played it, I can't help but think III (VI in japan) was better. (actually now I also think IX was better than VII too)

there were a lot of good RPGs on that system, but if I had to pick one best one, it would be FFIII. Earthbound, lufia2, BoF2, and supermario RPG had their moments too.

You are not alone! Actraiser rocks! In fact, I think I still have the Nintendo Power poster for it hanging in my old room at my parents' house.

This strange thing happened where it seems that all of the SNES games I loved have disappeared! A Link to the Past, Actraiser, and Super Mario RPG can not be found anywhere. Although, strangely enough, my copy of Chrono Trigger is still here...

Kind of frustrating since I would actually like to play Actraiser again and I'm not really into emulation. I guess I'll have to keep my eyes peeled the next time I go to Pre-played. I know they have A Link to the Past there at least.

True, atari2600a, Actraiser is not a traditional RPG, but I think it is a game that most RPG fans would enjoy. Hell everybody should enjoy it, because it has something for practically everyone.

I never played Actraiser 2 that I can recall. Was that a pretty late release on the SNES? Also, am I missing out on something by not having played it??? I probably should give it a look since I like the original so much I suppose.

seiken densetsu 3 is awesome, played it on my 2X while i had it
all the other good ones have really been mentioned. has anyone mentionded secret of mana?

Secret of Evermore was good too. For a long time I actually preferred it over Secret of Mana. I never really got into Chrono Trigger, it's one of those games where the beginning just doesn't hold me enough for me to continue playing. Illusion of Gaia is an awesome game. FFVI is one of the best FFs ever (second only to VIII in my opinion). Anyway, a list would be more appropriate than my ramblings now that I think about it...

1. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (Best. Zelda. Game. Ever.)
2. Breath of Fire I and II. (II is a lot better, I'd play I first so you're not disappointed lol)
3. Illusion of Gaia (see above)
4. Secret of Mana 1 and 2 (Seiken Densetu 2 and 3, see above)
5. Secret of Evermore (see above)
6. FFVI (see above)
7. Tactics Ogre: Let us Cling Together (That is if you can read Japanese. This game was ported to PS1, so pretty much every translation project I've ever seen was abandoned. It plays similar to Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis for GBA.)
8. Super Metroid (OK so not an RPG, but if there's any one game I could own for SNES it'd be this one.)

Well, the Phantasy Star series was a line of RPGs for Genesis, and never released on SNES. Still, they're worth checking out for any RPG fan, and would be great to pass the time on, say, a long car ride.

Well, Actraiser 2 is strictly a side-scroller, they took out all the fun stuff (like, the entire "rebuild the world" thing). They added a ton of new elements to the side-scrolling, but some find it hard to control. I thought it was okay, but definitely a disappointment after Actriaser 1. But if there is anything in its defense, it is arguably one of the most beautiful SNES games graphically ever released for the system. Oh, and it came out in 1993!

Oh, almost forgot one! Treasure of the Rudras. Never released here in N. America, but there are English fan-translated ROMs for it all over. It's definitely a beautiful game, though!
