I like Kega Fusion a lot more than Gens. It's basically the same layout but has better Sega CD and 32x support.benheck wrote:While my feelings on emulators are well known, I still use them.
I like:
NeoRage (before I built my arcade)
MAME Win32 version
Gens (Genesis)

Which emulators do you use?

I like these:
Gameboy: rew
It's small, simple, and plays 90% of the stuff I've tried on it.
NES: FCE Ultra
I like the interface a lot better than Nesticle's. Sure, the latter has pallete and sprite editors, but that's what Tile Layer Pro is for.
SNES: SNES9X
I like SNES9x's GUI better than other emulators I've tried. I don't know. I guess I have something against emulators that look like DOS programs.
Playstation: epsxe
Apparently version 1.5.someodd is better than 1.6. I don't care,it runs my PSX discs and disc images, so it's all good.
N64: Project 64, Corn (on my older machines)
Project 64 is, hands down, the best N64 emulator I've tried for Windows. Sometimes it can be a bugegr to configure, but it has high compatability. Corn is faster, so it does better on my old laptop.
2600: Stella, z26
I use StellaX, so it doesn't have the green and black interface. (It looks more like a Windows app.) It's very good at emulating the hardware, and has high compatability. That's difficult to do, concidering all the tricks programmers used to push the 2600 to its limit. My only complaint is that it doesn't stretch the game full screen, it's letterboxed to the approximate size of an index card.
5200/7800: MESS
There are probably dedicated 5200/7800 emus out there, but MESS works.
Lynx: Handy
Honestly I haven't seen another Lynx emulator that was any good.
Genesis: gens
I've used gens for years, and it just keeps getting better. Too bad there isn't a way to load a new ROM without exiting full screen mode.
Arcade: MAME (duh)
Name another arcade emulator.
GBA: Visual Boy Advance, NO$GBA
VBA is great. NO$GBA is a smaller file and it runs faster on older hardware.
And more:
Macintosh: Basilisk II, Mini vMac
Basilisk II is the one I use for most Mac desktop stuff, because it simulates up to a 68040 (Quadra) and it has external file system support (so I can browse my real hard drives and copy files to its hard drive image without needing mreo programs). Mini vMac is much more basic; you just run the executable and drag disk images onto the window. It's great for the odd game of The Lawn Zapper or Brickles.

I've used both SNES9X & ZSNES, & primarily used SNES9X until I tried to play RoboTrek on it. Major graphics issues. Ever since, I've been using ZSNES.

Just delete the entire folder of the emulator and /E/TDATA/a64fea57/Surreal.ini, RomlistState.dat, and RomlistCache.dat, then reinstall it.Harshboy wrote:Speaking of Surreal 64, whenever i try to load a rom it justy gives me a black screen, and i know the roms work. I'm guessing you were screwing around with different versions of it? I did that and doing the above fixed it.
Hope that helps.
