let me tell all a scary story: if you are familiar with south eastern wisconsin, you probly know about phantom lake. phantom lake is a lake in mukwonago wisconsin (where i live) and my grandparents live in it. some native tribe (i think pottawatomi?) lived there in the early 1800s, and one summer during a drought they had invaders. 2 people fought on the lake over the princess of a tribe, and one of them (the one that was protecting the princess) fell in and drowned. the other guy pushed the princess in the lake and chopped her arm off. this was around midnight on the date september 2nd. my grandparents live on the lake. now every september 2nd, the phantom supposably comes out. ive been there a few times, and havent seen anything, though supposably every few years something bad happens. if you look through the police records of the date september 2nd, strange things have happened on the lake on that day. in the early 70's, when my great grandfather was still alive, him and his friends went on an all night fishing trip, unaware of the date. they were in my grandparents house (they lived there for a very long time, almost 50 years) at 2:00 in the morning soaking wet, claiming a lady with one arm and a cane in the other hand, risen from the water, was around 8 feet tall and aimed the cane at them and the boat flipped over. look back in to the 1980s and you will hear of a report of 3 boys, all in there teens who were brothers swimming right out side of there house, and were suddenly sucked in to the water in broad daylight. The date: september 2nd, 1987. ive been out there a few times and all ive seen is strange lights, fog and i have heard weird noises.

The only way to really find out is for the governments of the world to put aside their differences and finally decide to go out teraforming the galaxies This would get political jackasses out and the governing body I believe should be in control, TRUE SCIENTISTS NOT TYCOONS, ENTREPENEURS OR UNEDUCATED IDIOTS

If scientists ruled these worlds, not idiots who oversee scientists, and the actual leaders of the world were truelly educated on how to run the governments and such, then there would be a push into space to expand resources and technology, COME ON PEOPLE LETS DO IT! I WANT TO MAKE SPACE TRAVEL A CIVILIAN ABILITY!

As for the paranormal, well lets put it this way, Until the paranomal find a better means of communication, we cannot prove that either

Doesn't this post kind of break the 'No Politics/Religious Discussion Rule'?

Anyhow, due to the aforementioned rule I can't really discuss my views on the paranormal, but I have never seen anything that leads me to believe that aliens or ghosts or government alien hunting dudes in sunglasses have any interest in me, well except for that on time when....

"I was walkin' to the kitchen for some Golden Grahams
When I accidentally stepped into an alternate dimension
And soon I was abducted by some aliens from space
Who kinda looked like Jamie Farr

They sucked out my internal organs
And they took some Polaroids
And said I was a darn good sport
And as a way of saying thank you
They offered to transport me back to
Any point in history that I would care to go

And so I had them send me back to last Thursday night
So I could pay my phone bill on time
Just then the floating disembodied head of
Colonel Sanders started yelling

Everything you know is wrong
Black is white, up is down and short is long
And everything you thought was just so
Important doesn't matter

Everything you know is wrong
Just forget the words and sing along
All you need to understand is
Everything you know is wrong"

I have an experence that just recently happened to me at a 2-week camp that I got back from yesterday.

The first night, I had this dream about a lady. A ghostly lady that was floating above the water, and she was bleeding from her eyes, and it left two long stains of blood all the way down her dress. That is all I saw. I had the same dream the second and third night, too.
Just to fill you in on some stuff:
The camp I go to has many strange stories. The camp IS haunted by many spirits. The property was owned by someone named Charles Downer a hundred or so years ago. One night, Charles stepped out of his study for something, and a candle tipped over onto his papers on his desk. Those soon caught fire to his books, and his whole estate caught on fire. Charles was a rich, but very generous, man. He owned a lot of property and a large house. He had servents, and some were trapped in the house, and perished in the fire. One of the spirts haunts the lake above where the house was.
On the 4 night, we were told of a story about the lake, and how a servent that perished in the fire now haunts the lake. Only a few people have seen her, and everyone who has discribed her as a lady floating above the water bleeding out her eyes with stains on her dress.
I saw her almost every night for the rest of camp. It scares me. It really does. She would appear closer every night. The last time I saw her, she could have almost touched me. I'm afraid that she followed me home, and that I'll see her again, and she will be even closer.

It's a lot like that whole "To make this less spammy" clause people use...if you have to mention it's serious, it's not...

I have unlocked this topic because I myself am filming a documentary about a ghost town in 3 weeks, and thus am interested in the stories and such.

However, do not bring politics and religion into it, as stated. Just tell your stories and discuss. Also, I am a little more lax on religion than politics personally as it's not quite as toxic. We've had somewhat religious topics stay open before, I think this is fine.

I would like to point out that this topic is pure fodder for controversy and a flame war and will be closely monitered by Ben himself.

i believe in aliens. if there weren't any, the universe would be mostly just a big waste of space. there's gotta be at least a planet somewhere with highly advanced aliens. some people say "why would they be watching us?" it's the same reason we got people looking for signs of life on other planets. i remember a long time ago i saw something in the sky that was higher up than the other planes in the sky and it certianly didn't look like a plane, might have been a UFO. ghosts and stuff might also exsist. if i died and wasn't going anywhere good, i'd probably want to be a ghost and haunt people and stuff, that'd be pretty fun. i like to believe in paranormal stuff because it's believable and more fun than saying "FAKE!! OMGZORS Y()|_| L13! 6|-|()575 4|\||) 4|13|\|5 |)()|\|'7 3X157 Y()|_| |\|()()()8! 00100001 00100001 00100010

I was driving here in south central Wisconsin one night last fall (or November/late fall/whatever) and I saw something sort of strange...

A blue light shone across the field and road in front of my car, from left to right. Then I felt a slight shudder in the car.

Naturally I had heard of the Belleville UFO and being but a few miles north of Belleville, figured thats what it was. Regardless, it was a bit weird and unexplained.

There, my one and only "unexplained phenomenom" story.

My "gifted and talented" teacher from middle school did a pretty cool experimental "ghost walk" one night at the local civil war prison in Point Lookout, Maryland. The people on the walk bought new sealed tapes and each brought their own tape recorder (state of the art in 80-something) but they picked up all sorts of weird stuff that no ne actually heard that night like someone saying "Where's my head? I can't find my head!" and evil sounding laughter, a rocking chair rocking, etc through the night. She wasn't the type to play tricks on her students either.

Ball lighting...my answer for glowing or orb like apparitions is ball lightning.

@psychotic_mechanic:

Have you heard these tapes? It's exaggeration, hearsay and the fact that if you are looking for something eeiry then you will find something more easily.

For example:

I have this glowing crystal ball sleep therapy thing, that also makes noises and projects light around the room. If I listen carefully to the looped noises, you can find common elements of speech in there and believe it is speak because of that.

Sure enough I did a test. While my friend was sleeping over, I hid it behind a desk and turned it on while he was asleep. Once he left the room it turned off about 20 seconds later. He swore it was saying "wiki chika blue beanies" but it was infact the noise of a stream flowing recorded up close and played back pretty loud.

Ghost Story 1:
When I was little, 5-7, I saw the ghost of my great grandfather who died when my father was little.

I know i imagined it. How? The only picture had lots of army people and was blurry. That was the only one I had seen. Well he looked wrong. As I saw a proper picture I saw that he infact did not look like that. It was all my imagination. As are most ghost stories, in my opinion.
