N64- Goldeneye (defines FPS's as we know it), Super Mario 64 (defines platformers as we know it), Super Smash Bros two mario games, sounds right...
GCN- Erm.. okay I've got nothing. neither do I and that's the sad, sad point

Super Mario Sunshine and Metroid Prime aren't exactly "100% innovation". Super Mario Sunshine was a pretty expansion of Super Mario 64 with a strange backpack. Metroid Prime, no matter how big the franchise, can go in the bin of "generic shooters".

The technology isn't new.

haha, were you talking to me? If so, I guess I wasn't sarcastic enough. I was trying to say that their "final secret" is probably just a gimmick, and the real secret of the controller has already been revealed.

As for a GCN innovative game...has anyone played super monkey ball? I haven't...but from what I've heard from friends and read it was pretty unique/fun...anybody?
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.

Did you just say F-zero and Uniracers are the same genre? *looks away*

*slap!*

You've probable never even heard of Uniracers.
F-zero introduced an amazing new engine to the Super NES that provided a fast moving, 3Dish front-forward point of view. Uniracers was also a racing game, but entirely different; it was a side-scrolling, trick-based race game where you pull off stunts to go faster.

just Because Super Smash Bros. and Super Mario 64 happen to be in the same franchise doesn't mean they weren't full of innovation! Super Mario 64 was the first majorly 3D platforming thingymajig and it blazed the trail for games like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon and Banjo Kazooie. Super Smash Bros. was totally new, addictive and just plain crazy fun.
I don't have time to overexplain things to people who play the Mario-is-everywhere card when I try to point out great games. It just so happens that Mario was indeed the one behind making games what they are. He defined side-scrolling (SMB franchise). He defined the less-serious racing genre (Mariokart franchise). He defined 3D platforming (SM 64). He defined party games (Mario Party Franchise). just about whatever you enjoy, you can thank Mario for helping mold it.

Oh ya! Super Monkey Ball was extremely innovative. Halo and Halo 2 weren't exactly innovative, but people flock for it.

Halo was "flocked to" because it was a well done game. Between graphical detail, playing options and a well written plot, Halo was a fantastic game, much in the same way Half-Life was. And both "two"s were sadly dissapointing... :?

anyway, to steer the thread back to it's original subject....

I think the best thing Nintendo could do at E3 is a name change (anything even decent should be good!), demos of some great launch titles, and announcing a cheap price (meaning $200-$300, with $250 seeming the most reasonable). Cheap game downloads would be nice, too, but ultimately, I think the previous three things mentioned could lead to them winning the next-gen system wars.

I really hope they don't come out with some stupid gimmick for it, though....
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

Chances are they will. :?

I would be curious to see if they have some solid demos ready and if they will be available to be played buy the attendees...

I think the "secret" is going to be the price. If they could manage to keep the $99 gamecube pricing or even a more realistic $149 release pricing these things will fly off of shelves.

I don't thnk it will be a "gadget" or gimmick at all, there's already almost too much packed in to one box.

a $150 price is a bit unreasonable, though....

I predict the lowest is $200, though $250 will most likely be the final price. Or $300, if they're stupid :P....

WIND WAKER!!! Okay, not revolutionary, but it's graphics were quite unique, and it was a depart from the normal Zelda. Like OoT on steroids.

I hope it's one of the following:
Castlevania will be on the Rev
Star Wars will be on the Rev
That the Rev will cost $6 at launch
I'll add more as I think them up. 8)
