You have a set of 6 pins. The left two (top and bottem) will set it to Master, the middle two will set it to Slave, the right two Cable Select.
Also if you have the software that came with the DVD-rom (some do) install that. Otherwise go into the BIOS and be sure the DVD-rom is there otherwise there's no way the computer will be able to run the drive if the BIOS don't see it.
