People can call them whatever they want, but I can't stand it when they call them "USBs". ("yew ess bees") Uuugh.

Why don't we just call cars "roads" while we're at it?

My whole family calls them "Zip Drives". Know why? Because

A. My mom had tons of macs back in the day, only understands Zip drives.

B. The brand was "Ioemega Zip".

I am always correcting them, but they never listen.

I see a lot of NES controllers listed as paddles or remotes. Bugs the hell out of me.

I agree with both of you. For some reason calling a controller a "paddle" when it's clearly nothing like one really irks me.

I prefer "flash drive," it easily makes the most sense... The two that irk me the most are "jump drive" and "e-drive" (because of the Windows drive designation.)

While on the subject of misnaming things, I have a friend that addresses the playstation buttons as "Box" "Oh" and "Cross" rather than "Square" "Circle" and "Ex." It bugs the hell out of me...

And what the hell is with people thinking that hard drives and "memory" are synonymous? I can't stand it when people say something like "I think my computer/iPod/etc. is out of 'memory'" What the hell?!?! It's even worse when they insist that they're using the correct term, I just want to punch them in the face!

Ah, yes, I call them "USB flash drives," by the way. A totally accurate description of what they are (flash drives with a USB interface), but short enough on its own that it doesn't need to be shortened.

You bring up an interesting point, sgtpepper; I've honestly never thought about what the symbols on the PlayStation controller are officially called... I call them "triangle," "square," "circle," and "x." (Are you a Beatles fan, by any chance, judging by your username? Because I am, too.)

I hate the term "paddles" and "remotes" for controllers - I notice it more now than I used to.

And the hard drive space/memory business drives me crazy! That mistake is unbelievably common. "I don't have enough memory to install that." Aaargh!

As much as I like the Gamecube (XBox-level graphics that doesn't require a huge box? Sorcery!), I despise the button arrangement. Even if they wanted the weird shapes, please, arrange them in a diamond shape so I can find them!

My computer has almost run out of memory once. It crashed when I tried to launch counter strike. But yeah, the memory vs hard drive space is just dumb.

If they say their computer is out of memory, say it's a virus that's filling up all the space between the platters.

LOL! I wouldn't know - I don't use iTunes. I already have a program (Adobe Acrobat Reader) that updates hourly.

Why don't they just say, "Currently connected iPod is full."? Seems to be even clearer. (On a side note, then they could have messages that derive from that, like "Currently connected iPod is full. Of terrible music. Seriously, Hinder?")

The latest version of iTunes is iTunes 8. They fixed the message now, but it has been saying that for like a year now, 8 is only a dew months old.

When you play a game, and you like it, then a sequel comes along and you naturally assume it'll be good too, so you buy it, and it turns out to be a piece of crap.
