I actually think it will happen. It can only expand so much till the bubble pops.
Yeah, the multi-billion dollar industry is just going to die. Totally feasible.

Speaking of, what exactly was it again that lead to Sega's downfall? Wouldn't it be hilarious if they came out of nowhere like, "BAM! Dreamcast 720!" and destroyed Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo?
a combination of the flop that was the Saturn and the expensive machine that was the Dreamcast; people weren't yet ready to lay down that kind of money on a gaming machine.
Too expensive? Huh... that sounds familiar, doesn't it? *cough*Sony*cough* Image That has been a problem for Sony, despite their arrogance about their system's price. Although, it seems as though Sony is doing better at E3 than M$ or Nintendo, but I guess that's no saying much.
yeah, this year's E3 really didn't tell us much in the ways of gaming (well from the big 3 at least). The non hardware manufacturers did much better.

:D That's the only thing so far this E3 that I've cared about! Pikmin's great; it's very underrated. I'm glad they finally confirmed it! The Wii controls seem to lend themselves perfectly to this game. Wish they would've mentioned a release date, or at least a release year.

people *coughBENcough* keep complaining about how the wii will harm gaming in the long run and crap like that, i agree to an extent but it ISNT the wiis fault that the 3rd party developers like to make crap shovelware games to cash in on the wiis popularity instead of making more good quality games that live up to the wiis potential.

if you look at it another way ive hear a LOT of PC gamers complaing that the ps3 and 360 are killing the pc gaming market because of cross platform gaming, for example dumbing down first person shooters for console gaming (auto aim, stupid AI, short, etc) and so on and so forth
