You need one thing: Purpose.
If you were made as a byproduct of evolution, how does an individual matter? The main goal of evolution is to survive and reproduce. (sounds fun dont it?) What is the purpose in forming a more "perfect society"? What contributions to life should be for the next generation, yet the main focus of the next generation is to pass to the next, for the better of the future. But what is the purpose of the future if you won't exist then? Wouldn't humans one day live longer? How come nobody has broken the promise, that no one else would live to be over 120? What is their purpose to a boring life, the only one to pass a certian knowledge.
To me, that is the society mentioned in "The Giver"
Not in the aspect of the last events of Jonas, but the way society lived. Their society was under control, called sameness. There was no color in the world. There was a ritual to every day. Nobody ever had memories beyond their lives. their goals up until 12 were the exciting years, until after then to preform dull tasks until they became old.
I think evolution, and aspects of "science" are a means of sameness. They are human's best guesses at explaining the phonemenon that is our world. The world cannot be explained sometimes. How slaves were able to make wondrous pyramids. How easter island was able to make the stone carvings, and even how niagra falls was. ( I dont think a glacier took the time to stop and say, "Lets make a huge waterfall right here, and then carve out the grand canyon")
But religion has a purpose. To serve a creator. Our purposes are all different. It's sad that some people out there aren't willing to listen. It's those who make me mad. The others who make me mad are liars. The cons you see on TV proclaiming to be of gods name, yet they ask you for your money to buy a prayer hankerchief, or other things to promote themselves. It's a shame what kind of name false teachers give to such an inspiring faith.
Not worrying about not knowing isint better than rejection. It is rejection, just pushing it away and leaving it for other times. But who knows if tomorrow will ever come? What is the purpose of getting millions of dollars when tomorrow you could choke on a hot dog and die? What kind of "purpose" is your life when death lurks around the corner!? No one knows when you will die, so be ready. Find a purpose for your life, and seek the truth.
Purpose lies in the hands of yourselves. The ultimate purpose of life is as you make it. Find a good purpose for your life. Not tomorrow, but today, for who knows if tomorrow will come?

Well, I firmly believe that The Bible is true. So it is not just another crock cult to me. It is a real thing. So don't put it off as "Serving the creator to explain what we can't." This is just too offensive to a large group of peoples.

man my opinions and thoughts on this topic are so many and varied! ok here goes some of em! its my opinion that organized religion is the main casue for all the problems in the world (the next biggest being meneral and material wealth) becasue if you look at all the major conflicts in the world they are mostly related to religion is some way seriously just think about! wwII, hitler hated jews = religion. the crusades = religion. islamist extremists = religion! see! so it is my opinion that religion is stupid except for some instances
religion should be to comfort you, not make you feel guilty for doing things. why would anyone want to worship a god that just makes them feel like a bad person and unless they repent for doing the most minor thing they will burn in eternal damnnation? not my idea of a good thing
it is also my opinion that people should just belive in what they want, i for one belive that the human mind continues on in some form or another after our coporeal bodies die, its possible, sience knows absolutly nothing about how the mind works and i am of the opinion that the mind and brain are 2 seperate but connected things, another idea i gleaned from scifi! the stuff that aenea teaches in endymion and rise of endymion are great and make a lot of sence to me. thats all for now kids! lol

When we die, I believe it is just like before we were even born, you can't remember before you were born, as you weren't there to experience nothingness.
The bible doesn't really make sense how we could just poof on earth. It says we were the first living thing god created, however there is so much evidence that we were here much later way after many dinosaurs. Also why did God create empty planets? What is the point of that? Also what about incest? We'd be very deformed if years of incest happened.
Another thing is people with many different skin colors, it was an adaption to the enviorment, so doesn't that go with evolution? If we do not evolve, then how did this happen?
This is just my opinion, and I respect everyone elses.

If I remember right, one version of The Bible states that God created the life again.
Well, I suppose God created all the planets just to add to the overall beauty of the universe, and to spark our imaginations.
Incest had to happen, it was the only way to continue life or royalty. Isn't that deformaty thing just a joke?
Sure we evolve, but not into different animals, we stay human. The Bible states we were created by God in His likeness, so I believe it would be blasphemis, to say we evolved from apes.
So, did I answer all of your questions?

Yes, but it is scientifically proven that we evolved from apes. It's that kind of thing why I'm not religous. I like to think logically. If a religion is telling me different from something that I know is scientifically proven, that's just wrong to me. Also, there are so many religions. How do I know that Christianity is the 'right' one? I don't mean that it is the right one for me, rather the 'real' one if you know what I mean. I can't explain myself very well right now.
Not that any of you are doing it, but on a side note, it really pisses me off when someone tries to force their religion into my life. Like what happened with (I think Gamer2) somebody on these forums and AC/DC and the kid on the school bus, If you know what I mean.

I'd imagine right now you wish you were a cuttlefish...
Show me "proof" of this. If we evolved from apes, then why are there no half human/half apes running, and where is this supposed missing link? i have studied science all of my life and have never seen the theory of evolution proven, not even in the slightest.iam7805 wrote:Yes, but it is scientifically proven that we evolved from apes.
Life is a lot like a video game without the extra lives and continues.

The only "evidence" I've seen was the ape/human thing nicknamed Lucy. Which turned out to be a fake, human bones mixed with ape skull and bones. The human bones were found somewhat near the apebones (but on a completely different level of soil I think), so they of course had to mix them together.jgibson wrote:Show me "proof" of this. Evolution is only a theory, yet it's taught as fact. And a lot of the stuff that they are still teaching has been discredited by non-christian scientists. So why do they teach it?

A scientific theory cannot be proved.iam7805 wrote:Yes, but it is scientifically proven that we evolved from apes.
I challenge you to name a proven instance where an animal evolved an adaptation that was not detrimental to itself.
I still find a theory that is based upon the records of a lazy, rich young man who didn't want to apply himself to anything quite dubious. You may know this man as Charles Darwin.
From Wikipedia, "Henslow had recommended Darwin for the unpaid position of gentleman's companion to Robert FitzRoy, the captain of HMS Beagle, on a two-year expedition to chart the coastline of South America."
Even he himself stated in his work The Origin of Species that he severely doubted such a work as the human eye could have come about by his theories.
Some people will believe anything as long as they don't have to accept that they are being held responsible for everything they do and say.
