Just buy all the systems as they all have there + and - 's thats what i did.
i gots em all xbox/ps2 (2 of em) all the nintendo systems besides virtural boy..PSP (2 also) a GBA SP, GBA(with afterburner light) GB color OLDSKOOL GB and now a GBA Micro (wich is cool for at my work i can take it and just play when i want stick in my poket). Get all the systems and u can play all the games and not be a fanboy/girl to anything Then no one makes fun of u!! Easy.
Also the way sony is heading they might as well stop you from puting movies and mp3's on the psp because they are getin tighter on the psp's homebrew. If they just want u to play games on it why add all the other media? personaly im keeping my 2 1.5 psps and using a ver changer to play games. sony is in my eyes becoming Microsoft Jr...

the gp2x can emulate and play videos and mp3s just as good (if not better, does the psp have hardware scaling?) as the psp, we wont know what it can really do till e we actually get it! it should be able to do some psx anyway and can the PS even do n64? it only has a 333 mhz processor, the n64s risc processor was 96mhz

the psp games are going to be better. plus you can get umd movies. you dont have to get an expensive memory card to put one on it you can just go out and buy that movie. psp can also do internet. have you ever treid it i dont think so. it is actually pretty good. i am not saying that nintendo is bad cause i do like some of there stuff but overall i like sony better. i did like sega more but well you know what happen to it.

a few things, #1 you have to BUY the psp games and umds, #2 YOU have to buy even more expensive memory cards than gp2x users do (memory stick pro duo 1gb=82$, 1gb sd card=49$ SD 2gb 124$) and how do you know the PSP games will be better? because it had more powerful 3d abilities?
and the gp2x may be able to do internet using a usb wifi or SDIO card, we dont know yet. umd movies are what 15$ each, so every movie you wanna get (even if you already own it on dvd or whatever) you have to buy again, thats stupid if you have the dv you can copy it, re encode it and put it on an SD card for the gp2x

there is a memory stick(1gb) for $67 and i also found them for cheaper.gpx might have internet which might not be as good. did you even check out some of the psp games comming out. sequals to some of the best selling ps2 games. that sort of tells you something. how much/many dvd/movies can you fit on your memory card for the gpx.

#1 Yes you're kind of right you do have to buy some games for the psp but it also can run emulators, and they're arent any specific (mario donkey kong etc.) emulators that have been garunteed for the gp2x yet for the psp we have a list of release dates of games that are going to come out there will always be something new to play and there are some games that are exclusive to psp ie. gta lcs
#2 yes most of the time the memory sticks are more expensive but theres a 4 gig hard drive coming out for the psp which doubles as a battery so for memory the psp is about equal with the gp2x
I like the gp2x but the psp has more functions and if you get one with 2.0 you should be good to go.
I'll take Bubsy for SNES (one of the best games ever) over some PSP crap any day of the week.kade wrote:at http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi ... +Stick+Pro

well, with usb in host mode the gp2x can use any sort of external harddrive etc, there will (im pretty sure) be commercial games for the gp2x, but it mailly focuses on homebrew/emulators, it as a large ammount of stuff that will come with it including some emulators and ports of other games. as to what kade said, depending on if or how much you reduce the size of movie files vua encoding, probably more than a few on a 1gb SD card, plus you can carry around WAY more SD cards than umds, they are much smaller, as to what xxxeagle said #1 there are plenty of emulators that are FOR SURE coming on to the 2x including several from the gp32 (reeseys DrMD genisis emulator for one) and why (if the 2x does get internet browse ability) woyuld it not be as good? i mean its a linux platform, it would be nothing for some of the gp32x devs to port over a few different browsers. PLUS to run emulators on the PSP you have to do al of this CRAP, hacking and exploiting, seems like a pain in the you know what to me. at least you can accuse me of being a total fanboy, i dont ignore everything you say about the psp over the 2x, i jst refute it. the psp is an ok peice of gadget that i would never buy, it has pixel and controll problems (from what i have read) and has that annoying "painted on the inside so its shiney" thing going on, fingerprints anyone? i would not like wiping it off everytime iuse it so it dont look like crap
well ther ya go

Well, I must point out that you can run downloaded movies on the PSP just as easily as on anything else. You slap in your widescreen (16:9) DVD, open whatever program is required (look on PSP sites, you should be able to find it), and pass the video through. Magezine reviewers have gotten movies down to 300MB, with excellent quality. Yeah, I know, lots of vagueness in there
I'm not an elephant here! My memory isn't perfect!
The PSP has a 333mhz cpu, and dedicated 3D capabilities. The gp2x has two ARM based CPU's. An emulator capable of utilizing the PSP's 3D chip could run PSone, n64, etc emulators. Hardware 3D always pwns Software 3D, and the ARM cpu's aren't exactly robust.
I dislike the PSP, though, because it involves SO MUCH SPENDING!

well tghe gp2x has a dual core 200mhz arm9 plus a dedicated 2d chip and a hardware scaling chip and some other stuff too, it raw processing power it is probably close to a tie between them, the gp2x is more focused on 2d stuff anyway, and that is most certianly not a bad thing totally agree about the $, why buy a psp when you can get something that is almost as good in some ways and way better in most ways...for about 50$ less

The PSP has hardware _graphics_ acceleration! That's absolutely useless for emulation. It's raw cpu power that is useful for emulation, and the difference between 3d hardware when running something like a ps1 emulator would be neglible.teraflop122 wrote:An emulator capable of utilizing the PSP's 3D chip could run PSone, n64, etc emulators. An n64 emulator for either would be cool but unfeasable. Possibly you could get Super Mario 64 to run at 10 fps, but Perfect Dark? Forget about it.
And PSOne games are so frikkin huge (<=650MB) it would be kinda tough to fit them into a SD/MSP card.
My $0.02
