does anybody have any good resources for building a reasonable wireless joystick from scratch? Even knowing little about RF, it doesn't sound too terribly difficult.
Ideally, I was thinking of taking standard arcade hardware and making myself a 1-button wireless arcade stick. I was thinking of a nicely routed base of cherry or walnut with a glossy finish on it. Just something a little better than stock to play my atari and commodore games with.
I don't believe wireless USB devices do enough pins for me, but I'm open to suggestions of what to tear appart to do this.
I got the idea while dreaming of the upcomming flashback 2.0. If I get ambitious, I may even consider a neo-geo version...

A long time ago I modded a standard ps2 controller into a wireless controller. I used these chips to help do it. They are really simple: just power pins, data in, and antenna out/in

Not to mention in 5 years you can park outside someone's house and hijack their Forza Motorsport 2 car.
