Power Dilemma

I have several old battery packs for several old laptops, and I'm wondering if it's possible to rip the cells out and use them to run my PSoneP. (I have a dedicated charger for them, and I might be able to use the battery un-modded.)

There's only one problem: they charge for 5 mins. and won 't charge again. I think they're either NiMH or NiCad, and I think there's a circuit board inside them.

So my question is this: If I bypass the circuitry, is it possible to charge the cells themselves?

They're pretty old (ca. 1996), so I'm not sure about this. Any ideas? (It would save me an a**load of money.)

Also, could someone tell me where to get battery power ratings? I have a Nikko 1296 battery pack I might be able to use. (almost 10v, not sure how many amp/hours.)

if your willing to spend 30 bucks get the 7.2 volt Ni-Cd radio shack

1.its 7.2 volts tye perfect voltage for a psone screenand ps one
2.its got 2000 ma
3. a built in charger is fairly easy
4. it comes with a charger

I'm not using the PSone lcd. Rather, I'm using the Intec Screenpad LCD.

if you have old laptop batteries, they're probably going to die soon. my dad got a P3 laptop and the battery is almost dead already.

I kinda figured. Just thought the circuitry had something to do with the charging.

OK, but what about the RC battery?

And I found a wall adaptor that should be able to drive the PSone and the LCD just fine... I think...

"wall wart" type (plug and transformer in same unit)

NETGEAR

Input: AC 120v 60hz 22w
Output: DC 12v 1.2a

I think this will work... perhaps...

i know that ben used a modded rc car battery charger with a phono plug from radioshack to charge them
