EDIT
also take a look at this one, it explains it just a little more. this one is about the d pad, but it's the same basic idea.

Sorry if double posts anger you but I had an edit and it wasn't noticed. What kind of clear board was the guy using in the video to keep the d-pad in place? I couldn't quite understand with his accent. and can I buy it at radioshack or some kind of simple store say home depot?

I think he used a thin piece of Plexiglas or something, perfboard works just as well, if not better, it even has the little holes drilled you'll need :D
You can buy perfboard radio shack

I think I'd also like to get those rubber tipped tact buttons, know where I can get them? I already went to radioshack but they didn't have the same kind. I picked up the 2.5mm high ones but I don't think they'd give enough space to click when pressing the buttons.

Here, double posts aren't really that frowned upon, especially since this is your own questions thread.

Yeah, I think it was plexiglass, but it's not like it really matters. Get something that's fairly strong, and fairly thin.

Here are the part numbers for the switches you need.

Call me stupid but where can I get them from in a store? I'm moving to Brazil on saturday and need the stuff before then. and isn't there a free way to the the regulator or something listed in these forums? could somebody help, I can't seem to find it.

Also need help with Batteries, and vacuum forming the case, and how to include the expansion pack and memory.

i was wondering what michigan --> brazil meant. what exactly is the plan, to have all of your parts that you need before you move? not sure which store you can walk in and buy those switches.

for the ti switch you just google the model number (i think it's pth08000waz) and go to the texas instrument site and you can ask for a free sample.

Yes, gather everything I need here before we head off. Anything electronic related is massively over priced there not the mention in Portuguese so it would be quite troublesome.

as for the the regulator i'll try to get it. but how about the switches? are there that particular kind or something very similiar found in a common store?

Batteries: In the diagram eagle had posted earlier with the entire set up of the connections with the screen and the board, there are 9v batteries and it says no more than 12. No more than 12v or 12 batteries. And I was hoping to use like the polaroid dvd player's batteries instead, what are they called specifically so I know for future reference?

As for including the memory and expansion pack, I know it has to be in those video logs but if anybody has some extremely helpful diagrams on the matter, anything would be appreciated

Vacuum forming the case: I think I got it down, found a guide somewhere on the forum.

Oh and where do I ask for the free sample on the ti site. I'm hoping it's easy to find. EDIT: Found it :P
And how fast can it get here..?
And do I need an 'official' looking e-mail address?

No more than 12v, any more than that and you need a step down regulator (which is kind of ridiculous). If you are talking about the polaroid 0700 battery, those are two lithium polymer cells, each 3.7v. This is perfect for a n64 portable.

(are you talking about the memory card you put in the controller) Here you have a few options. If there is enough space in your case, you can just include the whole thing. Also, it is possible that you could have the controller board with the memory card slot sticking out of the side of the case. You could relocate it. Or you could do what I'm doing, and have a switch for an external Player1 controller, so you could just use that when you need a memory card, for the few games that use them.

I guess it depends on what shipping options you get. No you don't need an official email address. When I got mine, I used my regular one, and put "high school" as my business. It still came.

Ok, so I have one day and there is a lot to do. Hopefully I can get an answer ASAP. I found one of those polaroid portable dvd players model B51A, how would the battery in that do?

okay well i looked on the internet and couldn't find anything about it. chances are it will be fine, but i'm not sure. if it was 7.4v to 8.5v would be great. 8.5 to 12v, and you need a voltage stepdown regulator for your screen. any higher than 12v, and you will also need a voltage stepdown regulator for the n64. mAh just depends on the battery life you want to have, and since it is from a portable dvd player, i'm assuming it would be fine. it will probably give you no less than about 2 hours, and no more than 5 or 6.

I'm confused. Isn't the step down regulator the thing from ti? Or the 1808 thing in the diagram eagle posted? I'm going to assume the ohm resister and the thing from ti are necisary for the portable either way. Could somebody confirm that these batteries I'm getting will wire up the same way as they kind in the diagram are?
