There are many adapters that let you connect a laptop CD-ROM to a desktop computer. But I'm looking for the opposite basically. I want to connect a 2.5" hard drive to a laptop where the CD-ROM would normally go. Is there any adapter that lets me do this? (If you're into this subject you know that some laptop CD-ROMs have a proprietary connector, but most of them have a standard connector inside if you detach the proprietary caddy. It's this standard connector that I want to use.)
I know this an odd request, but I've googled my ass off and found nada.

I could probably solder one myself. I can even make a PCB for it. The trickier part is to desolder the connector (Or solder wires directly to the pads) But as the lazy bum I am I'd rather get something that I know works instead of risking to fry a laptop or possibly spending hours and hours inspecting my soldering for errors.
