Good capture card

i am looking for a reliable PCI capture card preferably from newegg.
Please no random guesstimations just if you have one maybe you could tell me.

I got an ATI TV Wonder VE for $10 on clearance a few years ago. It gets the job done but its analog TV tuner is pretty snowy (it picks up all the noise on the cable line, even the noise you can't see on a real TV), and it doesn't have ATSC (over the air digital broadcast) capability.

Do you need a capture card? I've gotten better results with a set-top DVD recorder. (Just rip the video off the DVD-RW like any other DVD.)

Try the KWold PCI LitePlus - I think that's the name; I just got mine from newegg for 10 dollars, and it works great. It's analog, but it's not blurry in the slightest and has no lag or skip.

Keep in mind that analog TV broadcasts stop in a month and a half.

Yeah, but who actually uses their capture card for TV?

Seriously though, I don't mind a new standard, but why can't everyone use the same standard? There's still going to be three out there. If only I could get a universal TV...

What are these three formats you speak of?

ATSC for North America and a few others- basically where NTSC was before.

DVB for Europe and possibly some others- pretty much replaces PAL and SECAM.

Japan's next-gen format is ISDB, not NTSC.

Overall, a huge pain. Thankfully peripheral standards have already been standardised (pretty much only HDMI) but it's still a huge pain for a lot of people.

Ah, right. I was thinking of something else.

At least they're all using the same resolutions and frame rates, even though there are a crazy amount of them (1080i/p, 720p, 576i/p, 480i/p, and 24p, 25p, 30p, 50i, and 60i).

The capture card I got is for dumping old home VCR tapes that we want to archive, as well as recording gameplay footage if I want to.
