So about Indiana Jones 4....

Just got back from the midnight show a little while ago, and it was quite... interesting? It wasn't so much that it was bad, it was just so different. The underlying premise of the series has always been archeology and kicking ass, but this one takes a step in a different direction. It's not out of place in the series, but it's kind of like Temple Of Doom when compared to Raiders of the Lost Ark, the original can't be beat.

Don't get me wrong though, you should go and see it, just go in with an open mind. Judge it as if it weren't a part of the series, and I think you'll like it. I just wish Sean Connery was in it

And for those of you who want spoilers:
OMG Aliens!!! The crystal skull is an alien skull, I mean wtf? And Shia LaBeouf is Indie's son? That's not very surprising, and kind of lame. They didn't even have anything cool after the credits...

Glad to hear it didn't suck. I'll probably see it tomorrow during the day with some friends, when hopefully there are fewer people in the theater.

It sucked. I was hoping for at least as good as The Mummy, but it didn't even deliver that. If you didn't like Phantom Menace, prepare for the exact same feeling (and with just as much BS computer effects)

In fact of all the "way too late sequels" lately (Rambo, Rocky, Die Hard, Terminator) this is by far the worst, in my opinion.

Well I liked the Phantom Menace

Maybe I'm just more forgiving? I definitely would put this above the new Die Hard movie, it was terrible

I was entertained by it throughout, but there were definitely things about it that bugged me. It is one of those movies that doesn't hold up to scrutiny for sure.

The movie was all over the place and lacked any sort of focus. Right from the very beginning with the kids hot rodding through the desert it didn't seem to know what it wanted to be.

This is probably the weakest movie Spielberg has made since "1941" (nearly 30 years!), but if you don't think about it much you should be entertained.

Or you could just watch "The Mummy" or "National Treasure" and have a lot more fun.

@SgtPepper - You rock! Glad to hear there is someone else out there who can say that they enjoyed "The Phantom Menace" with pride. It kicks ass!

It was a good movie but it failed in a couple areas where the previous three accomplished. The first 3 Indies made the story believable. Ark, Magic Stones and voodoo, holy Grail.... But Aliens??? Some parts where somewhat believable (the big boom/fridge) but other parts where just so out there I didn't know what to think.

Don't get me wrong it was a great movie to just watch because of the great Action scenes and humorous twists but when I left the theater I didn't know what to think because it was to hard to compare to the first three.

I thought it stayed pretty true to the first 3 in the action scenes. There where plenty of ridicules stunts and things that happened which is what Indiana films are known for.

I give it a 7/10. High points for action and entertainment, medium on plot and character development, weak on believability.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I agree parts seemed more out there and not as believable as the first three, with less historical basis (although the Mitchell-Hodges crystal skull is real, at least). Overall though, it stayed pretty true to the franchise I think and I personally liked it better than Temple of Doom.

To much CGI, alien stuff didnt bother me too much, lack of bad assery from Indy pissed my off the most. i would put it a half click or so below temple of doom.

I just got back from it. I was good but not classic Indiana Jones style so I can't really compare it to the others, but overall it was pretty good.

Sure, it was no Raiders, but it was a damn good time. Just be glad Shia LaBeouf got the hat taken away from him. Now THAT would have been a bad movie!

Well, they got more screentime than the Ark of the Covenant, which was displayed as mere fanwankery, then promptly dismissed for another chance to show more 3D rodents.

Either way, George Lucas should have been content to rest on his laurels and collect riches for the rest of his life, instead of jamming gimmicks into everything.

If Indiana Jones were Star Wars, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull would be The Phantom Menace at best, Attack of the Clones at worst.
