Wii dvd mod

Post by adrian_1212@ »

Is there a modchip that lets you play dvds on your wii? If so can you send me a link of it? Also im thinking of putting this into a wiilaptop which im planing to sell later on. Would the modchip make it illegal to sell on Ebay?

Yes, any modchip that can do Gamecube homebrew (which is most if not all of them, I believe) can play DVD's. Also, that would make it illegal to sell on eBay, as modchips are illegal in the US.

EDIT: (at below post) Yeah that would work, but I'd remove that link if I were you. Ben is very anti-modchip, and probably would not like you linking to that stuff.

Incorrect statement, modchips are perfectly legal, once you own the system you may do anything you want with it, they may have their standards for warranties but the only illigal part of modchips are if you download or steal one of their games or something they made.

Hate to burst your bubble, but modchips are illegal in the US, as they violate the DMCA. They circumvent copy protection. It doesn't matter if you're playing a pirated copy of Call of Duty 4 on your Xbox 360 or if you're playing your own backup. You are circumventing copy protection, which violates the DMCA.

I lost 40 bucks to a modchip seller that got raided by ICE two days before my product was supposed to be shipped. I can say with 100% confidence that modchips are illegal under the [imbecilic] DMCA, its a stupid, outdated law, but a law none the less.
