books or subjects?

Do you have a technical question that doesn't really fit a specific console? Want some general info on electronics, hacking, making cookies, etc? Here's the place to ask! Go nuts.

books or subjects?

Post by sublime311 »

ben has amazing mods, but i wanna know how to do this stuff, can someone tell me what type of backround knowledge i would need to understand this, like idk, circuitry, electrical engineering, or whatever i might need to read to truly understand some of the terms and what-not.

p.s. i'm also looking for books i should pick up, so if anyone knows of any they think would be of use to me please send me names/authors. thanx.

1. Buy Ben's book
2. Get a soldering iron, solder
3. Read as much from this site as possible

:D

Honestly, "Hacking Video Game Consoles" by Ben Heckendorn is just about all you need to read to get up and running. I'd also suggest "Electronics for Dummies" if you know absolutely nothing about how electronics work, but after reading Ben's book it might be a bit redundant.

Plus, you've always got us to rely on :D

thanks, i'll check those books out, i was planning on buying ben's book anyway. But would these books tell me what everything is and does, also i want to know where to connect something and why it makes something work like what wires go where to get a desired outcome. So, if anyone has any other suggestions, i'd really like to hear them thanks everyone.
