Picking an OS

Well, if you're using freeBSD, it's generally accepted that you should know what you're doing before hand, but it does have a comprehensive manual set included...

My friend is a user of PC-BSD, and though he says he loves it, he's also told me it's a royal pain in the rear to find any drivers for it. So as much as I'd love an adventure through the interwebs, I'd prefer not having to hunt down drivers for every little component.

Anyways, I got my new harddrive installed, then booted TinyXP rev 6 from a disk I burned. It partitioned the drive and installed okay, but then when I boot XP, it attempts to enter setup, I'm prompted with this window:

If it's installed, boot without the cd. If it is, find an iso for service pack 2.

Well, the "Files Needed" screen only comes up when I don't have the CD in. When I plug in the TinyXP boot disk but run from the harddrive, it just has a Windows XP "Please Wait" window.

It's just the service pack. They probably hand those out for free, or rather cheap.

Besides, Microsoft can kind of afford it.

Torrents for that stuff = still bad. Besides you'll probably get faster download speeds off Microsoft's servers.

And for your pirate OS problem, try a legit copy of XP.
