You mean as in compose your own, or rip the audio from a ROM or something?

Well, because I don't like trackers or manually programming the music in ASM, I use a midi cart for my nes hooked up to my keyboard/pc :P

Composing my own I think that would be cool to play like a midi keyboard with chiptune stuff on it.

If you want to go for authenticity, then study up on ASM, & read documentation on the audio registers on the system you want to program on. Then, do some research on audio drivers on that system.

Or, you can do what gannon said.

...or, you can just mess w/ the square wave noises in Fruity Loops or something...

Hmm... is the sound chip in the Genesis compatable with the chip in one o fthe older Yamaha keyboards (if it doesn't use exactly the same chip)? You could put the Genesis chip in a keyboard and get a similar effect.

Wait was there anything special about it, or was it just a regular Yamaha chip?

If you want some really advanced examples, check out www.8bitpeoples.com . They've made some really nice tracks.

Also listen to Video Computer System and Keyboard Hero Jr. here:

(No, not THAT "golden shower", ya pervert. : P)

Click on the TV to watch the Video Computer System video, click the shower for the list of songs. I think both of these were made on a computer using authentic samples, but you get a similar effect.
