will Audiovox D1500A screen work for RGB?

I just ordered a couple of Audiovox D1500A DVD players that aren't reading disks. According to the manuals online the "A" has a video input (the B doesn't, I checked the forums already), is it likely that I will be able to get RGB into it?

I am going for some kind of stereoscopic head-mounted display or viewer-box with the Nvidia 3D stereo drivers and a dual-output video card, so I can game in three dimensions. Or just use them as displays on the front of my case, for a fileserver so I don't need a monitor or run cool visualizations on it.

I am hopeful because of the input that it will accept at least composite, and I am betting it can be hacked into RGB too.

Has anyone used one of these screens before? It is a 5" and there is no spec on the resolution, could it be the same type of screen as the PSOne? With a different circuit board of course.

Edit: just a quick thought, could it be similar (or the same) to the EX50 or VBP2000 screen? If it is then there is a cheap source of screens, according to ebay sales and Amazon reviews the DVD drives in these tank after a year or so.

The screens look identical and probably use the same basic set of components.
I have the EX50 and it uses a run of the mill video encoder, I found the datasheet and it accepts composite, s-video, and rgb.

I could kick myself for being stupid, but I was trying to figure out what size mirror I needed for the 3D Head-mounted display idea (and also what size hole I would need in my PC case if I was to mount it there), and I came up with 4 inches wide and 3 inches tall for a diagonal 5" screen:

It might be crazy, but this is a 4:3 ratio screen right? I guess that is as lucky as you can get on the math

Out of curiosity, what was the chip in the EX50? Just so I have something to read up on. And the native panel resolution is 320x240 as far as anyone knows?

I have some new info on the first DVD player, it came today.

There are two chips on the input board:

Sharp IR3Y31M ( 0409 U )

PVI - 1004C ( G0420S734 )

According to the sketchy docs I can find both the chips will accept RGB, but nothing is available on them, several Russian and Asian sites claim to have spec sheets, but they don't really.

Does anyone have one of these chips on a circuit board that is wired for RGB? Until then I will have to use the S-Video it looks like the DVD player half outputs.

Bad news for portables, it looks like this screen has a U-Shaped high-voltage backlight that is in a fairly deep housing, If you can make a LED backlight that is more shallow it should probably be fine.

The up side is that it looks to only need one circuit board and it is about an inch wider than the screen housing.
