Video Card for $35

Post by Joes2Silly »

Well, since nobody wanted to sell me a video card i scoured ebay for one. It ran down to a Radeon 9800 Pro and a FX 5200 Ultra. I know the radeon card may not be tested but I am still leaning towards getting it. Dont worry about that part, based on the cards which one should I go with, or should I get a different card (but I only have a $35 buget) :?:

I'm also pretty interested in budget video cards. We're building up a gaming rig for our watch office at work since we're attempting to keep suicide rates low over the holidays

honestly the computer is pretty top-notch, but naturally we don't have a lot of gamer video cards around our storage area, and we'd like to keep this project as close to free as possible (currently it is totally free). the catch is that it's got a PCI express slot, which is actually a bit of a downer since we can't use inexpensive agp cards that everybody's getting rid of. any thoughts on what kind of card to look for? I'm thinking x800, but I'd love to go older

Well, I have an x700 pro, so if you need one I guess I could part as long as I can trade/buy for ~ same price as selling a similar agp card

No offense, but I kinda need to know which card to get because the auction for the radeon is ending in about 2 hours

Get the GeForce FX card. At least you KNOW that card works. Don't bother with "untested" items, that's eBay-speak for "I broke it but I still want to get some money out of it from some stupid sod buying it from me bwahaha"

Buy the Radeon at your own risk.

uh. Get this one. It's a great card, I have a 256mb version of the 6200 and it can handle all games on the market at passable Gfx. It can even do FEAR on 1024x768 with all settings on low though, still looks great though. at that price, you can't get a better budget card.

I only have $35, my budget was $100 and I already blew $35 on a Duron 1.1 GHz+Mobo+128 Stick of RAM, then I spent another $30 on a 512 stick of RAM

you can't go over just a little? because those other cards are crap. Please splurge a few dollars just so that I won't feel bad for you.

I would get the 5200, because that is almost exactly what I have (Just flashed to work on a Mac!). It works really well with video editing and rendering, but I haven't tested it with games because I don't paly games on my computer! :P

FPS, Doom 3 and Civ4 are probably the most intensive games I hope to run on it

Oh yeah, that 6200 will run Doom 3 like a dream. I can max Quake 4 out on mine and it runs at a good 40 fps average, though I prefer running at medium and getting 60 fps.
