Question about iTunes

I want to use iTunes, but I don't want my name and address out there.

Does that information have to be disclosed before you can buy music? (I plan on using prepaid cards)

Sorry about the quick post but many searches haven't led me to a definitive conclusion.

Then just put a fake name and a fake address and they'll really never know.

I use the iTunes store, and I never gave them my name and address. All they really need is your email address.

It asked me for my email address, then on the next page it asked for credit card information.

Wha? Why can't I just use prepaid cards?

Edit: I found <a href="http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html ... 1958">this article</a> on Apple's site. Apparently, if you redeem a card first, it will let you make an account with the option of giving them personal info. Is that how you guys signed up for it?

I like using these prepaid cards because it's not tied to me personally. It's too bad they can't make Paypal Prepaid cards... (I buy Target gift cards to buy things from their website. Hey it's better than having a credit card number stolen... )

I haven't bought one yet because I wasn't sure how they worked. But now that I have a better idea, I might scoot to Staples this week and pick a cheap one up. ($15)

I registered with the prepaid card and so all I gave them was my e-mail adress.

I signed up bagk in the dark ages when iTunes was only on a Mac , and my computer was a green iMac ... So I'm pretty sure I just gave them an e-mail, and my mom started me on 10 bucks a month allowance (my allowance is still going to this day, I've bought 797 items so far!).

Got a $15 card at Target today, and I like what I see so far.

Opinions on prices:

$0.00 TV episodes: Can't beat free! (There aren't enough enough of them. )

$0.99 music: Excellent. The same price as a new CD. It's only more expensive when you buy stuff that comes on the really cheap discs.

$1.99 Music videos: Kind of a ripoff. I'd pay a buck for a music video, but two for 3 minutes of video isn't worth it.

$1.99 TV shows: Reasonable for half hour shows. Great for one hour shows (ie Mythbusters). Excellent for shows that are very expensive on DVD (*coughCSIcough*).

Movies: Meh. I wouldn't buy movies off iTunes because the quality's somewhat lower than DVD, and you don't get everything you get when you buy a DVD.

I'll definitely keep it around for hard-to-find music and TV series I on;y want an episode or two of. (And of course the freebies )
