Well I went to Circuit City today to return a networking switch I had bought. I was looking around the store a bit, and then at the very back shelf, I saw a Verge Screen, the kind you mount on top of your XBOX. The price was $35.99, but at the register I found it had been marked down to $18! What a deal
Anyways, I got home, and plugged it in, wired it up and everything. I heard from triton that the verge screen was the same as a PSOne screen inside. When I plugged it in, the green power LED came on. After that, nothing. The backlight didn't come on, and the screen didn't even turn blue, like the screen on the PSOne LCD does when there is no signal. I hooked up a 1/8 jack AV adapter, and still nothing. I don't understand whats going wrong!!! Anyone have any idea?
Usually the PSOne screen, when turned on, will show a blue screen until video is supplied. This screen is just blank.
On another note, I know the question of how to extend the screen from its mobo comes up every once in a while in the forums. These FFC Extensions will do the trick if I'm not mistaken.
Alright, I will. I was trying to keep myself from opening the case, but I guess I don't have much of a choice. The unit looked like it had been returned, and was the last one on the shelf, so I can't just go back and get another one.
I opened the screen. Its one of those kinds that swivels and rotates, and there was something wrong with the wiring that went through the hinge. I soldered on new power and AV wires so now it works fine, no problem.
