Gonna write a book...
I'm in the progress of making a GCp, and am wondering, if I made a book on how to make one, and made it really professional looking and sounding, would it sell? I'm wondering if it would be worth it or not for the trouble...

I doubt a full length (150-200 pages) book about making one console (GCp) is possible, let alone sell at a book shop. Selling it as an eBook is a great idea though. Maybe sell it on eBay, or setup your own website to do it. Then, if you did other consoles you could sell it at a bookshop (and compete with Ben's book, lol)
I'd imagine right now you wish you were a cuttlefish...
It's possible it might sell, all depends on the audiance you're looking for. If you're aiming for people that come to the forums here, again you might sell a few. Keep in mind that a lot of us get so consumed with our projects that we rarely have money to spend on other things beyond hardware.
As for selling it. There is the pdf format ebook. There is also the printed version, which you can have done through cafepress. Cafepress wouldn't be the best choice but it would be the most conveniet.

I am a geek.
I dunno if it's possible to make a book on how to make a GCp solely. It would be 25 pages, tops. Unless of course you actually explained in depth what each component you're using does, how it works and such (which might not even be possible, because all portables really are - are just wiring).
Maybe an eBook, but even then, I wouldn't buy it, only because I know how to build one.
Eh, good luck.

Hmmmmm....interesting proposition. Although, Sky is right about it being quite short. If I were you, I'd add a "prequel" type thing like Ben did; you know, give basics on switches, resistors, pots, a short history of the console, how to solder/desolder, tools of the trade, etc. Then maybe at the end, throw in a troubleshooting page for anything that may have gone wrong.
Good luck,

That's what I meant. I'd make a few guides, and then write a complete book on several different systems to do just that, compete with Ben's book.iam7805 wrote:I doubt a full length (150-200 pages) book about making one console (GCp) is possible, let alone sell at a book shop. i dont think it would be very fair to gamelver consideringhe posted most if not all of the information on the forums and the book will probably be primarily that. i think it would almost be like charging someone for roms when they can be had fopr free right in front of them. but if you did a really really really good job i may even buy one just to check it out
